To think dh is soooo out of order

I've just woken up to hear DH telling DS 3.10 to get back to bed. DS not doing as he is told (not unusual) DH keeps saying go to bed I'll come down in a minute!

DH on computer playing interactive game which he has not taken his eyes off to even look at DS who is now getting upset and by the time I am fully awake is crying whilst curled around hugging the top step of the stairs.

I took DS to bed. DH came into bedroom and said he was sorry that was stupid!!!

I just said that he is a little 3yr old boy his little 3 yr old boy!!!!

grrrr lying in bed fuming now!!!

your dh sounds like he needs to spend a day on his own with ds to be reminded of who's needs come first. ie not his!!

cant actually believe he ignored his crying son so he could play a computer game.

We have just had a family holiday where he was reminded that it's not all about him and his needs! I know exactly what it would have been like!! I have tried to talk to him before whilst he was playing this game to be given short sharp shift cos I'm talking whilst he wasmplaying!! Grrr it's one thing to do it to me but!!!!

YANBU. Can you kill him in his gameworld? By that I mean have one of the other people who he interacts with chop his arm off or something that is likely to cause death to arrive. Obviously you'd have to do this while he wasn't there, I doubt he would agree to it.
Your Dh is being very selfish.

Perhaps someone could write a computer game where you run round loaded with shopping while trying to calm three children, book a hair-cut and feed the dog all while relatives and neighbours throw old nappies and gravel at you while telling you you are a bad parent?

Then men would get some real life practise?

Funny how all the games involve shooting people, hardly condusive to caring and compassionate interaction with the rest of the world.

It depends why he was crying... if he was just whingy then I would have just called out to him to get back to bed or else!

Linking to another thread though, computer games are the work of the devil and turn players in to stary eyed knobheads. I wouldbe soooo cross if DP was holed up playing a computer game at 11 and not snuggled up with me.

YANBU. DP is generally great but when he plays his car racing game he is always "just one more lap" or can't hear DS cos he is two floors away or (and this really will have to stop soon when DS gets a little older) gets angry and yells out "For fuck's sake" or something similar! Grrrr indeed..

OP posted this at midnight. are you really suggesting that OP should have remained awake to tend to ds even though her DH was awake playing a computer game? what was preventing dh form seeing to the boy? nothing. what was preventing OP from seeing to him? she was SLEEPING!!

Ooo hark at weetabix!! I did get up and deal with him and then I was so angry at him not even taking his eyes off the screen to even look at ds, (cos he wont look at ne when he is playing so no way this could be any different) I lay in bed posting on my phone cos I was too angry to sleep!!

Why is parenting all a mothers job? some of you talk shite and that's why so many blokes are useless....my DH is the same, ignores DC'S for the computer.

Likes to show of 'his' kids to his family though and pretend he is a great dad.

were trying for our first ds discussed how we jointly
would like to parent.

Dh has said he has been feeling guilty all day and that he was not fair to ds or himself and it will not happen
again! I told him that it was stupid and basically in a few more words unacceptable!! He said he will not let it happen again.

haveaseat- that is good that he realises he was wrong. hopefully this will put an end to the glazed over eyes and autopilot responses when playing computer.
