have waited all afternoon for a delivery that was supposed to be here by 6pm, it didn't turn up so rang them waited half an hour for them to answer the phone the first time to be told it would be here by 7. no sign by half 7 so i rang again they cut me off at 8pm I am flaming furious what sort of customer service is that and i still don't know when my item is going to be delivered

that pisses me off too, in this day and age people should know, roughly, what time a delivery will be made.

maggymay · 04/06/2010 20:17

I dont know what pissed me of most the lack of delivery or cutting me off at 8 when i had been on hold for another half hour who do they think they are

i wonder when they cut you off do they then accept payment for call, they really should.

BosomsByTheSea · 04/06/2010 20:21

Argos, in my experience, are utter crapola. Ordered lots from them when we moved house, will NEVER buy from them again. Awful service, shoddy goods, impossible complaints procedure. Still makes me to think of it and it was 5 years ago!

BosomsByTheSea · 04/06/2010 20:22

Hope your stuff arrives soon.

TottWriter · 04/06/2010 20:23

Write a formal complaint about your treatment. Include a statement that you intend not to purchase from them again. Companies genuinely hate this, and they will quite possibly try and make amends.

It doesn't change the fact that they've been bloody awful, but it might get you some form of compensation for your inconvenience. Half an hour on hold only to be cut off is utterly disgusting. I'd be phoning up Which? and letting them know .

YANBU

Argos are shite.

BosomsByTheSea · 04/06/2010 20:28

Tott, I not only told them I would never buy from them again, but salso that I would take every opportunity to let others know how dreadful my experience of the company had been.

I was a big customer, too, spent over £500 on beds etc (one of which arrived with the wrong sized slats and the other of which broke last week).

I still didn't get so much as a letter of apology.

lovechoc · 04/06/2010 20:41

argos are crap.

diamondsandtiaras · 04/06/2010 21:06

YANBU......when we moved into our house 5 years ago we had many problems with Argos. On more than one occasion I took a day off work to wait in for them and they didn't show. Their delivery slots are rediculously long (or at least used to be)......I would never buy anything from them again.

YANBU

keeping you on hold for ages then cutting you off is crap! let alone not keeping you updated re the delay in delivery.

I ordered some stuff from Argos many years ago, saturday morning delivery (which I think at the time you didnt pay extra for), no problem.

I therefore laboured for a long time under the mistaken impression that their delivery service was ok.

Last December however, ordered for a weekday delivery. due any time before 6. It finally turned up at 10.30pm

I will never use them again. The annoyance of spending all day, and all evening in waiting for the delivery, when I had 1001 other things I needed to be out doing, was far too great!

nagoo · 05/06/2010 08:48

I only work 5 mins from home. They were v good for me, and called me 30 mins before it arrived so I could nip home and let them in!

This was a while ago though.

YANBU at being pissed off, I would be too!

matumble · 05/06/2010 09:04

they took my delivery to the wrong house in the wrong county!

We moved from the west midlands to the north east last october and i bought new beds for my DD's.

before i ordered (they were on a deal so time limited)i rang customer services to see if i could order them to my new address but arrange delivery for a fortnight later. she said i could do that but better would be to just order them and when they were available and got the call to deliver explain the new address and they would bring them there.

So the call comes and i tell them the new address, not a problem we will deliver them there. 7.45am my phone rings 'we are outside but you arent answering' so down i pop, out the front door to nothing, so i rang the mobile number back and asked where exactly they were? oh outside your house, asked what the address was to be told west midlands address.

queue a day of hormonal ranting at various managers and customer service types telling me their system doesnt work that way anyway! fortunately the last person i got took pity and got them to me that day but the whole thing left a bitter taste, i tend to use tesco now their delivery is so much better.

maggymay · 05/06/2010 09:17

My very recent experience of Argos has been the total opposite. DH and I have lived in our flat for 5 years without wardrobes, drawers (lack of space initially). We had a mass clear out, and I finally talked DH round, so we ordered from Argos. Stuff came when they said it would and the delivery drivers phoned us to say when they would be with us.

DH ordered something last week, it came on the day promised, earlier than the delivery slot we had chosen (luckily it was the day after coming home from hospital after having DD2 so we were in) and they phoned, to say what time they would be here. Nothing missing, friendly drivers who carried all the stuff in and asked me where I wanted it put. Was a nice experience actually.

Sorry you've had such a shoddy time with them. YANBU to be fed up with them if that's the treatment you have received.

fustyarse · 05/06/2010 10:27

I have just had a really great service from Argos, and am pleasantly surprised

I bought a vacuum from them a few months ago which just inexplicably died on me - not good

called them up, they immediatel organised for a replacement, and arranged for collection of the old one and delivery of the spanking new one to come on Monday

no extra charge, and from the reviews I am getting a better one

the customer service folk I spoke to couldn't have been nicer.

Hope it all comes on Monday though - I would be pissed off at non/late delivery too!

Have ordered tons of suff from them in the past year and not had a single problem
