to put England flags on my car?

So, the DSs have submitted their 'Dream teams', played in the World Cup tournaments at school, collected the Match Attax, bought England kits and today, they have won some England car flags, and they are desperate to put them on my car.

I usually don't care about what people think, but I suspect this may be taking things just way too far ?

I personally hate them but have to admit to humming this over and over all week and feel quite nostalgic and patriotic. (god im such a loser!)

notnowbernard · 30/05/2010 20:32

I keep threatening my family with them...

I am an embarassment, apparently

Shaz10 · 30/05/2010 20:33

Oh go for it! Come on England!!

Veteran · 30/05/2010 20:33

Do it for your boys, it's only crap when it's 40yo men plastering their house/cars/faces/bodies with St George's flag.

BelleDameSansMerci · 30/05/2010 20:34

I loathe them but I don't have a DS... I think you'll probably have to succumb to their wishes but ewwwww, shudder!

PersonalClown · 30/05/2010 20:34

It is your duty!(asumming you are English of course)
Let them have their, ooooh, week and a half of pride before we get kicked out.

PussinJimmyChoos · 30/05/2010 20:35

YANBU but it does look..ahem..chav

And England always end up getting booted out after the nation has got all hyped up and supportive!!

larks35 · 30/05/2010 20:36

I wouldn't myself, but am preparing myself to see a lot of them over the next weeks [shudder]

LadyBlaBlah · 30/05/2010 20:36

DSs are born chavs (or whatever PC word I should use)

I like the innocence of it - they love football, are excited for the world cup, and want to put up flags.

I think I might do it

(I love that song Charlotte - makes me remember great times)

let the kids have the flags!!

CaptainUnderpants · 30/05/2010 20:41

I said to my two DS that we would have car flags if England got through to the final .. I then had a think about it and didn't want to deprive the boys form having the flags so have caved in already ...

southeastastra · 30/05/2010 20:43

go for it, luckily my kids haven't asked

make sure you put them on properly have seen loads of sad run over flags

spookycharlotte121 · 30/05/2010 20:54

omg tho.... 1998.... was it really that long ago that song was released! I was 10 then and a total tomboy!

It's okay if it's ironic. Is there anything else about you that might suggest 'chav'? If not, I would go for it.

Penthesileia · 30/05/2010 21:10

Yes, you are being unreasonable, inasmuch as being "unreasonable" might suggest doing something stupid or detrimental. Putting those flags acually dramatically increases the drag on your car, so your fuel bill will go up quite a bit. Which seems lacking in reason to me!

JaxTellersOldLady · 30/05/2010 21:10

nah not for me, but I am Scottish. Lived in Engerrrland for over 10 years and will watch the games/support England, but wont put the flags on my car or hang them outside the bedroom windows. Not my style at all.

But each to their own.

Penthesileia · 30/05/2010 21:11

actually

Eleison · 30/05/2010 21:11

I saw Eng-er-land crocs in the shops yesterday, white with a red cross. Bad taste double whammy. Might buy them for DH to watch the footie in.

brimfull · 30/05/2010 21:14

who gives a toss if its chavy
ds hasn't cottoned on to it yet but if he gets caught up in the ferver I will happily put the flags out

JackBauer · 30/05/2010 22:02

Luckily I live in Wales and don't want my car windows smashed, so don't have to even consider flags.
MIL has them ready to go when she leaves rehab

OneFucker2Many · 30/05/2010 22:05

let them fly their flags

weegiemum · 30/05/2010 22:12

They really increase your fuel consumption.

the world cup doesn't start till June 11th - why put them on now?

We don't anyway - Scottish and in Glasgow (my ds is 8 and has decided he's supporting Argentina!).

If you are up here, I'd suggest not putting them on!

piprabbit · 30/05/2010 22:13

Add a little Bodenesque bunting to the flags and you'll be fine.

donkeyderby · 30/05/2010 22:16

Go for it!!

Think I might get some, plus one big one for the house and facepaints for every match.

DH is Scottish, so it's payback time!!
