To have wanted a bath when I got home from work?

Started work at 8am this morning and finished at 8pm tonight. Because of the type of job DH does, he can pretty much leave the house when he wants. He left about 8.30am this morning and was back home by 3.30pm.
DS's are with my mum as she has had them all day and offered to have them overnight, so DH really has had nothing to do since he got home (except for play with his new iPad!!).

I walked through the door at 8.20pm to find nothing done in the house (this does not surprise me), and DH is just stepping out of the bath!!!

I have been on my feet all day and just wanted to jump in the bath when I got home, but after one bath (he always has a really deep, hot bath) there is no hot water for at least an hour.

So Is he a selfish tosser or AIBU???

Did he know you would want a bath?

worldgonemad72 · 28/05/2010 21:16

yanbu, sometimes men dont think at all.

usualsuspect · 28/05/2010 21:17

Wait an hour ..drink wine ..have bath

HecateQueenOfWitches · 28/05/2010 21:18

Did you tell him beforehand that you wanted to come home and go straight in the bath?

Do you normally come home and go straight in the bath?

I think it is unreasonable of you to expect him to know you wanted to do that if you hadn't told him and if it's not part of your normal routine.

As to him not doing anything around the house, does he never?

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 28/05/2010 21:19

He knows I've been on my feet all day and would more than likely want a bath when I got home. My point is that he has been home since 3.30pm, why wait till 8pm to have a bath?

did he know when you'd be back? or that you'd want a bath?

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 28/05/2010 21:21

You're right worldgonemad, men don't think!

Yes I do usually have a bath when I get home.

As for the housework, no he doesn't do anything ever, hence why that part didn't surprise me!

Yes, he did know what time I'd be back.

Think I like usualsuspect's idea though

tbh im surprised by some of the messages on here, if i had done a 12 hour shift, kids at grandparents, dh at home i wouldn't be impressed if he hadn't made me a cuppa and run a bath for me!

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 28/05/2010 21:25

Thanks worldgonemad, I appreciate the support.

I used to get cross with DH for using the water. Eventually I stopped getting cross and just got a new boiler that heated up water instantly.

As a purely temporary measure, the wine sounds like a good idea. But get the new boiler next week.

ChunkyMonkeysMum · 28/05/2010 21:30

Wish I could Quattro but we rent and I don't think my landlord would be too impressed when I tell him my reasons for needing a new boiler!

Can I just say that I wouldn't usually be so pissed off about it as I'm used to him coming home from work and getting straight in the bath, leaving me to sort kids, dinner, house etc and then me being the last one to have a bath - I just thought he might have jumped in the bath earlier in the day knowing that I would be wanting to do what he usually does!!
