ok so i am seeing more and more car's that are flying the England's from their windows. Now I have no issue with this. It is perfectly acceptable to support your country/team.

But is it very naughty ofme to have noticed that it is only cars taht are more than 5 years old or that have obviously not been taken good care of.

You will never see one on a car on HP.

today they said that black cabs can fly the flag

but can't think what you're suggesting from op. that old people who have cars over 5 years old and not taken car of are football fans? :S

marcsalmond · 21/05/2010 20:17

oh dear must preview

harpsichordcarrier · 21/05/2010 20:19

No of course you are not being unreasonable.
It is perfectly reasonable to be sneery about people with "old" cars and it doesn't mark you as a raging snob AT ALL.

notthatfunnyreally · 21/05/2010 20:35

I suppose you've noticed them on council houses too.

Shock horror, there's a correlation between income/class and displaying England flags.

I second the raging snob comment.

marcsalmond · 21/05/2010 20:43

i don't like them hanging off cars though - to be it seems obvious that we support england as we are in england so what's the point?

WhereYouLeftIt · 21/05/2010 20:49

IMO this sort of thing more likely to be done by young men, 18-25. They're on their first cars and insurance is so crippling at that age, so they predominantly drive older models. Not really unexpected correlation.

LiegeAndLief · 21/05/2010 20:52

I have a P reg fiesta with a dent in the front. There are no flags on my car.

usualsuspect · 21/05/2010 20:59

I live in a council house and we have an old car..no flags...old settee out the front tho

DuelingFanjo · 21/05/2010 21:01

my car is more than 5 years old, to be honest I doon't know how people afford new ones.

I don't have an England flag; nor a Welsh one.

Don't know if you are being unreasonable because I don't get what you are saying.

marcsalmond · 21/05/2010 21:08

i think whereyouleftit is right

oldandgreynow · 21/05/2010 21:22

Bloody hell my cat should be painted white with a red cross by your reckoning

oldandgreynow · 21/05/2010 21:22

my car as well!!

stop being such a snob.

I am going to put them on my car and it was new last year

nighbynight · 21/05/2010 21:28

Somebody round our way has had their car professionally sprayed as the German flag

It resembles a giant black, red and gold neapolitan ice...and it looks pretty new, too.

Ripeberry · 21/05/2010 21:29

My car is 8yrs old and has a Welsh flag on it and I'm in England.....I must be mad

plonker · 21/05/2010 21:31

My children are desperate for me to put them on my 2 yr old car ...I've told them I will.

YABU, and you are most certainly being a snob.

Lauriefairycake · 21/05/2010 21:33

yanbu

clearly only thickos have them - thickos can't get good jobs so drive crap cars

MaureenMLove · 21/05/2010 21:37

Good grief! Regardless of how old these cars are and how well they take care of it, they are supporting their country with pride!

I will not be putting flags on my 8 year old car, purely because the buggers at school will probably nick them, BUT we will be putting them on DH's very new, very shiney and very well looked after Saab!

Fluffyone · 21/05/2010 22:05

Those flags are a bloody pain in the arse. They scare the shit out of most horses the cars meet on the road. Someone will die.

LordPanofthePeaks · 21/05/2010 22:16

there's an offer going on at our local garage. Buy an England flag and get a Ford Fiesta free! Brilliant.
