haha, no they weren't drilling but she does vacuum very late at night.
I was trying to be witty when I said "busy drilling" as in I was busy drilling

I do know my neighbour, we used to get on but she went all possessive and needy and got jealous when I went for coffee with friends so I gave up on her - too much responsibility!

We now don't speak.

I think she does the vacuuming late at night on purpose

Last night we had the usual stamping up the stairs, then at 9.30pm they woke up my daughter because they were yelling at theirs for still being awake. Not happy here.

Invite her for a coffee and bring the subject up subtly?

sometimes i vaccum at 6/7am. depending on what time dd is up and how much breakfast she has shared with the floor... i also set the washer off at tat time but no one shares that wall any way
