ds always does choir on tuesdays, 3.30-4.30 today got a call at 3.30 to tell me no choir today and can i pick him up!

i live half an hour away from school, dd was napping, had to get her ready and waddle dash up the hill to school!

they must have known all day the choir teacher wasnt in!

I wouldn't automatically have assumed that they had known all day. Perhaps the choir teacher was taken ill suddenly/called away on a childcare emergency of his/her own. Even if they had known all day I don't expec they would have deliberately waited til 3.30pm to ring people.

In your position I would have thanked them politely for the call and explained that unfortunately it would take me 40 minutes to get up to the school. I am sure this would have been fine.

At our school dd would have just been sent to the wraparound in this type of situation.

Not try to be antagonistic or anything, but can I just say, that we dont have 'wraparound' care at our school yet..

we also have very few after school clubs,
so if that was to happen to me and mine,
my children would have to sit outside the head teachers office until I could get there!!
with every body coming thro the main doors etc, looking at them as if hey had either done wrong, or everyone as everyone knows, Parent has forgotten them or as it seems in most cases, they dont care!!
Very few parents IME are caught up in 'traffic', and its generally the same children over and over again you see there!!
