to not know which number 3 and a half thousand million is?

Hi guys,

as part of a project I have to write down the number 3 and a half thousand million. English is not my first language and I can't quite grasp how to write it. I thought it would look like this: 3,500,000,000

So,to stay within the spirit of MN, AIBU to not know how to write this number?

Um...well three and a half thousand is 3,500 and one million is 1,000,000 so three and a half thousand million would be 2,500,000,000 like you thought.

So you actually do know how to do it - your AIBU question is obsolete!

What a strange number indeed. It was quite important that I got it right. Thanks a bunch entrusted NMers.

Otherwise known as 3.5 US billion. A UK billion would be one million million - 1,000,000,000,000. But for intents and purposes one thousand million (1,000 m) is known as a billion. So your number could also be written as 3,500 million.

I always get awfully confused writing big numbers, and English is my first language!
