I'm quite new to the site and am a little confused by the number of boards. Where do I go for general chat?

Go to Topics at he top and then find Chat. That's a 'general chat' area.

I'm pretty new, but I believe you are looking for 'chat' in 'fun and games'...

If you look at the top, click on the topics board and it will come up with a list.

Or

You can look on the active conversations bit at the top, click on someone's thread that's in chat, it will give you the option of starting a new thread in chat so you can do that instead.
