Can't stand it when people call my female dog this, she is a she and not an inaminate object.

FFS, YABU to care.

Put her in a sodding skirt if it bothers you so much.
Or put a bow in her hair.

I'm angry at myself for wearing my keyboard out a touch answering this post!

AnyFucker · 18/04/2010 22:46

yes, seeker, IME dogs do a cringingly large amount of crapping

on the pavement/park too < quietly fumes >

darkandstormy · 19/04/2010 09:02

Val gorgeous poem,so touching there are a few on here who clearly have never had the pleasure of having a dog.some bitter and twisted attitudes towards dogs on here. I think they are very sad characters, get back to your mummy drudgery girls, because it is obviously affecting your karma.

Mumcentreplus · 19/04/2010 11:50

...'Its a friggin DOG'!!!

cheesesarnie · 19/04/2010 11:53

its a dog!ds gets called 'she' hes all ok.

Tiredmumno1 · 19/04/2010 11:55

[Grin] @ mumcentreplus - i think i just saw you sprinting past my window

Tiredmumno1 · 19/04/2010 11:56

I meant obviously

EggyAllenPoe · 19/04/2010 11:56

i refer to my unborns as 'it' until born, bu tht is because i don't know the gender....with dogs people generally assume 'he' which can be annoying but then it really is quite hard to see on hairy breeds/ ones close to the ground...(and neutered boys are less obvious.)

i don't consider 'it' to be necessairly a lack of love, but more a wish not to be inaccurate

PorphyrophillicPixie · 19/04/2010 11:59

But the dog is a dog, there is no way of telling the difference between male and female dogs straight away unless you're familiar with dogs and I'm sure that even then, without a peek underneath it'd be difficult!

It is a dog at the end of the day, put one of those dog-skirts on if you're that bothered by it?!

WhoIsAsking · 19/04/2010 12:01

I think that's awful. Does your dog look a bit sad when someone refers to her as "it"? People can be so thoughtless sometimes. Dogs have feelings too, and they can understand when their gender is being called into question.

Does your dog look a bit...blokey?

Tiredmumno1 · 19/04/2010 12:07

if you feel bad for your dog op then you should feel really bad for my lizard as it is impossible to tell it's gender so one he is a he the next a she just to make it feel better.

solo · 19/04/2010 12:08

Val, that's a lovely poem...so true too. My first dog saved me, she really did and I thank God for sending her to me...sad that dogs don't live for 60 years like we do because I'd still have her.

stleger · 19/04/2010 14:41

I tend to assume cats are 'she' though... Ddog has a friend whose owner is like Mary on Coronation Street. In her world, previous dogs 'went over the rainbow bridge'.

JackBauer · 19/04/2010 14:44

I have had dogs all my life, I love dogs.

But really? This upsets you?

ChazsBarmyArmy · 19/04/2010 14:45

dog

CrankyTwanky · 19/04/2010 15:11

arf, chaz.

onagar · 19/04/2010 15:52

You really expect people to examine your dog to check if it's male or female? How odd.

darkandstormy · 19/04/2010 16:43

my dog has a female name, so what I mean is then people who know her gender will say "does it like being stroked" etc.Bit like seeing a baby who you know is female and saying "does it sleep through the night?
