Just start another one then, but focus it slightly differently.

The trouble is when threads get too big, hardly anybody bothers to read how it has developed before wading in with their size tens, and it becomes repetitious and inane.

The tighter focus of fewer posts means a debate is more coherent.

If you are interested in that kind of debate, take a look at the new feminism section? Lots of thought-provoking stuff there. Or start your own.

IME, people just start pointless and offensive bickering after a certain point. If it can't be covered in a thousand posts, there will definitely never be a consensus.
