i have a 8 yesr old ds, a 12 month old dd and i'm 20 weeks pg...

my mum and sd smoke in the same room as the children or go into the next room if i mention it (after they have already lit it.. its not really another rrom (although she thinks it is) as theres only an arch between them, no door and she sits at the other side and the children follow them!!

ive asked and asked and asked and she 'forgets' so we have stopped going... what annoys me is that she made a biiiig thig of it xmas day, telling my family they could smoke near the baby and put out a gazebo for everyone...

we live half hour away from them and visit the in-laws there every saturday... she thinks we should visit them as well...

If you do not want your parents to smoke around you and your children, and fwiw I think you are 100% right, then try leaving as soon as they light up. You have asked, they are not making any real effort and the well being of your children is more important.

What fab said.

If my mum did this, despite repeated requests not to, I wouldn't visit and would say why.

Could they come to you. Under your roof under your rules! I said this to my dad!

tell them they can visit you and you do not accept smoking in your house.

YANBU, you have asked them not to smoke and they are obv not making any effort to respect your wishes.

Tell them to visit you, and then they can't smoke inside

my mum has visited me 3 times since dd was born last march... its too far and she has too much to do

(off topic but ds was in a concert last saturday and i told her and she told him she would be there... and didnt show up, or ring him or anything... her excuse was its too far and i had too much to do)
