Why is it so irritating? It's everywhere, politicians are the worst offenders. It sounds so bad.

YANBU.

there seems to be a trend to define business and politics through the use of freakish phrasing.

someone on the john lewis program talked about the 'colouration' of a handbag last night wtf, colour is a perfectly good word you don't need to business it up!

abride · 25/03/2010 16:21

YANBU.

Poledra · 25/03/2010 16:23

Ohhhhhh, YANBU! Someone asked me to 'actualise' something today - I might have to kill them

scaryteacher · 25/03/2010 16:23

YABU - it is frequently used in the military.

There is an increasingly bizarre use of the word 'space' being used in commercial and investment circles.

For example, the phrase "we are investing in the 'leisure space". What they mean is we are investing a leisure business.

What on earth is wrong with the word 'business'? It is as ever coming over from the USA. Sets my teeth on edge.

BariatricObama · 25/03/2010 16:30

i suppose you hear space and think 'oh thats nice they are creating a space for my leisure' not 'i am being fleeced for doing something i could do for free in a park'

5Foot5 · 25/03/2010 16:56

The one that gets me is when peple talk about a "methodology" when they just mean a "method".

Can't say I really have any strong feelings about "Tasked with" though. At least, it doesn't revolt me.

wildfig · 25/03/2010 17:25

YANBU.

MogTheForgetfulCat · 25/03/2010 20:56

YADNBU - hear this a lot and it sets my teeth on edge. Gah! Also can't bear "How can we progress this" (beg pardon?) and "Going forward" - why not just "In the future"?

EdgeofReason · 25/03/2010 21:06

YANBU - we could build a collection 'In order to' 'Socialise the concept' ' strategically aligned' - oh there are so many more but at the end of the day... it gets very dark..

tethersend · 25/03/2010 21:20

Why is 'Plate' a verb now?

This is not the first time I have mentioned this, but no-one seems to care. It's driving me insane.

Masterchef? Mastercunt more like.
