i left school 12 years ago most people i was at school with i either chose not to see again or have not lost contact with.

There was one girl who went to prison for murder she boasted about it now somebody i have known for about 8 years has just sent me a message on facebook to say she knows somebody i went to school with by process of elimination have worked out it is this girl who has only just been released what do i do as i don't want to put myself at risk but don't want to know this girl is involved with somebody like that unknowingly

Do you think your 8-yr friend knows about the other girl's history? Or is she (the murderer) trying to hid her past?

TBH at this stage I'd just send a vague "oh yes? who do you know" message back to the 8-yr friend and see what she says.

If it becomes apparent she knows nothing of the girls past you have 2 choices, either to tell her or just try and close of that avenue of conversation by saying you have deliberatly not kept in touch with her and don't want to re-commence the "friendship".

If it was me, I'd probably tell her. I'd want to know if I were in her shoes. But, I guess it depends on the situation and what "type" of murder it was
