If you're the HR woman who I just spoke to who was bloody rude to me quite unnecessarily then yes, YABU.

Good good.

I am just at the end of my bloody tether.

I work in a school and I am thrown in with an extremely diverse bunch of kids with lots of additional needs that clash with each other.

There are violent, aggressive kids who I am not trained to deal with (I had to restrain someone today and believe me I know what shit I could get into without training).

There are incredibly disruptive kids put with very vulnerable kids and it is just so difficult to make the day coherent for them and I just want to SCREAM!!!

I am not an angry person, I am calm, collected and controlled but I was almost driven to the edge today.

I'm not getting the support I need and neither are the kids. My first website visited today was looking at new jobs. The problem is this job is hopefully a stepping stone to greater things for me but at the moment I am fucking sick of it.

ARGH. Rant over.

Thanks

Have you raised this with your manager? And if so what did s/he say?

psychoveggie · 18/01/2010 17:09

She was out this afternoon. I am putting in writing the incident which happened today and a colleague and I are refusing to work with a particular pupil alone until a risk assessment takes place.

I just hope that tomorrow morning when my feelings are not running so high I dilute the problems (I'm such a wishy washy diplomat I should really go into politics )

Write it down tonight, then if necessary read off the bit of paper tomorrow (bit I know but you won't forget anything).

Be firm and specific and tell your manager what you need to happen.

Btw YANBU to be pissed off. YABU if you allow it to keep happening because you feel you need to keep the peace.

What is your role in the school? Are you a teacher? A TA?

psychoveggie · 18/01/2010 17:16

I know you're right JAMM - it's just we are so caring about these poor little mites with so many problems (and these problems really are horrendous) that sometimes their bad behaviour is not addressed properly or fully. It's so difficult because you're trying to stop them falling out of the system and landing God knows where without letting them away with murder.

I am a Learning Support Assistant NAN.
