Admittedly for about 5 minutes and it might well all fall apart, but as i sat there sewing I almost felt a frilly pinny growing around my loins...

Check you haven't sewed it to your skirt. That takes the edge off the glow when you stand up, IME...

. I do cross stitch, and once when DD was a baby, she was asleep on my lap (only way she would sleep when she had colic) and I was trying to keep myself awake (dangers of SIDS on sofa etc) by doing some stitching. Unfortunately, I somehow managed to stitch through her dress. I had stitched quite a bit, and then spent over half an hour trying to decide whether to unpick the stitches and have to re-stitch them, or just cut her dress and pick the dress fibres out of the stitching...after much thought, the dress lost!! And does anyone have any suggestions on an easy way to sew a blazer badge on? It took me 5 hours and the ruddy thing still wasn't on straight. She needs a new blazer after only a term. I'm beginning to think she is sleeping with her feet in compost!!

Was turning up DS' new school trousers (heeded the advice of a neighbour as well as all the wonderful MN advice here and bought him some M&S strides that are a little bit long but in a narrow-fit style.
Oh, and iron-on stuff is rubbish for turn-ups, as I found when trying to mend a descending hem on my own trousers with it...

I made a skirt with Wundaweb once.

Don't get me wrong, it looked like shit, but it didn't come apart...
