So today is Dh's birthday and i have bought him a mobile phone. I thought about it long and hard knowing what he likes in a phone so got one with everything he wanted and more

He opened it up, said thankyou, but ater looking at it he asked if i'd kept the receipt because he wants a different one!!

So now he's just gone to take this one back and get a different one

I geel a bit fed up because i can never seem to get presents right for him. He's done this before with a watch i spent ages searching for and he took it straight back and chose a different one

I haven't said anything to him and i wont but aibu to feel upset

Just let him choose his own presents in future. He gets exactly what he wants and you don't end up feeling upset about it.

Yes, get him to tell you what things he would like in advance - a few things, so that you can get one of them. Some people really are hard to please - don't beat yourself up. Just stick to small presents that you think of yourself - that way you are not wasting alot of money on things he doesn't like....

YABU for not telling him how you feel.

I must admit i did try asking him which phone he'd like which is when he told me what he wanted out of a phone iyswim

I think in future i'm going to do that. get him a little pressie from the dc's and take him out shopping with a set amount on the day

It is very hard though

Dh and I hav e decided this is how we will do presents. Very small presents with a personal shopping budget to choose a bigger item (if there's money). It's so hard to get it right - and it gets harder as we get older.

I've given up trying to buy surprise presents for DH as he never likes them. He gives me a list of what he wants. This Christmas, I wrapped everything up in bigger boxes, so he couldn't tell which present was which, to maintain some surprise.
