to not pick parcel up from post office?

I ordered an item online, which has taken forever to arrive. So i cancelled the order and asked for a refund.

The seller has now contacted me to say the item is at the post office and i need to go and pick it up.

I dont see the point of going to pick it up only to return it, as the post office returns uncollected items anyway.

If you have the refund, then I wouldn't bother. If seller gets in touch, then just say you will try to, but being Xmas and all that don't know when you'll get a chance.

I dont have the refund, as the seller is refusing to give me a refund, until they receive the item back. But i also dont have the time to pick it up (little one is infectious and off school)

Have you got your refund? The PO take forever to return items so if not I would definitely get it and post back. Otherwise it could be lost in the ether for weeks and weeks and the seller won't refund you until they have it back.

your other option is to go to the office and refuse the item.
it gets sent back a bit quicker then, as they put it straight back into the system.
(if you don't collect it sits around forever until they send it back as uncollected)

YANBU and it is fair to be annoyed but it will take forever for it to get back to the seller. You will get your refund more quickly if you go and get it and return it. However, it will be free if PO retrun it and you will have to pay postage if you send it so make sure you get that refunded.

Have just checked the Distance Selling Regulations and if i cancel an order within 7 days of receiving it, the seller cannot insist on receiving the item before a refund is given. Do you think this would also apply to me?

Who did you buy from - company or ebay? If ebay then I doubt it.

Amazon. I have just phoned the Post Office and asked them to return it, so fingers crossed.
