My dh said its totally unreasonable and to wait a few more weeks. I just want it to last as long as possible.

Far to early TBH. Ours goes up the 2nd weekend in Dec

crokky · 21/11/2009 17:51

Well I have a 3.9yo and a 1.9yo. DH is at work today, it is raining so we put the tree up - they both had a great time, they are knackered from the excitement! I usually find there is more do do in December so it's fine to take the opportunity to do it on a day like this!

OP - do what you want

Mine is a fake tree obv!

OrmIrian · 21/11/2009 17:56

God no! You can't! It's just not right

Christmas is only special because you have to wait for it.

MissWooWoo · 21/11/2009 18:18

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Don't do it! Ridiculously early.

I actually tutted in the street yesterday when I passed a florist who had christmas trees outside ALREADY. It's not even December FFS.

YABU

YANBU. My brother, who is in his thirties, put up his tree at the start of November a couple of years ago. They have two sons but it was mostly for him and his DP too!
I am unreasonably excited about Christmas already, and have had to make paper chains to stave off my longing to put everything up. I am making myself wait till the first week of December, by which point I shall be crawling round the ceiling with anticipation like Spider-pig. And no, I don't get bored of them... I left my ceiling decorations up until April a few years ago. (If you saw my living room you'd realise they fit right in anyway)

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/11/2009 18:28

yabu it is november

and sure 4+weeks of 7mth pulling/breaking lights will drive you insane

lovechoc · 21/11/2009 18:42

I think you must be having a laugh, come on, it's only November!! You can't be serious!

LittleMarshmallow · 21/11/2009 18:46

I put my tree up last weekend, mainly because we are away for half of december and wouldnt have time to do it when we get back

FerretInYourTrews · 21/11/2009 22:36

I think it's to early. My next door neighbour has had hers up for about two weeks already. It was ds who noticed it and I thought he was seeing things ubntil I saw all the flashing lights.

onthepier · 21/11/2009 22:59

It's too early, although your baby's first Christmas is very exciting! My dd was born 10 years ago at the beginning of November, and I remember telling my dh I was looking forward to doing her a Christmas stocking full of lovely baby bits (at 8 weeks old!) His shaking of the head and eye rolling was enough to convince me I was being silly!

Hulababy · 21/11/2009 23:03

Oh Novenmber is too early, sorry. PFB or not. At least wait until December!

Divatheshopaholic · 21/11/2009 23:08

I cant wait xmas either, but putting up xmas for 7m old in mid November is a bit OTT.
Agree that xmas is special, so wait till it comes right, and it will be magical

Squishabelle · 21/11/2009 23:10

Its still far too early. I really cannot understand what is going on in the heads of those people who have already put their decs up.

nannynick · 21/11/2009 23:19

This week the Christmas Tree outside Windsor Castle was being put up... so if it's not too early for Her Majesty, then surely it's not too early for any of us.
However as a child I recall that my parents didn't put up a tree until Xmas eve.

Jugglers · 22/11/2009 00:23

I think this is a DM trolling post waiting to 'out' the chavs for putting up trees too early!!

You could probably plot the weeks in December on googleearth by tree lights in my neck of the woods. A very few will be starting this weekend, there will be a small blaze of light from some parts of the conurbation in a fortnight, the 'ironic' people will go for it the week after that and then the posh people around the 19/20!

As for the flora on the front doors, (and the mechanical fauna in the front garden) that's an entirely different thread!
