because my children will always get it all over themselves, and I just can't get it out, so clothes get ruined.

From this day forward the only time they will be allowed it will be when they are a/sitting naked in the bath or b/wearing swim suits

YANBU - I don't like chocolate ice-cream either, prefer strawberry.

Don't worry, the children do manage better with time - my messy DS2 can now eat an ice-cream with just a Zapata moustache at the end of it. It's been a long time coming - he's 8 now! (With his elder brother, it doesn't touch the sides at all.)
