To suspect that something at school is making children sick ?

I posted at teh end of last term about how 15 children (out of 60 in the school) all went down sick on the same night.With stomach pains and vomiting but no or only low grade fever .
Yesterday was the first day back at school and 3 out of the 9 new starters became sick during the night .The children had not met up during the holidays.
I am beginning to think that there is something in the school that is making the children ill.
The water cooler perhaps?

Did they eat the school dinners?

if there are only 60 in the school they are all going to mix with each other a lot and bugs will spread rapidly. so the 15 who got ill on the same day had all caught it from someone else who had been ill previously

If there was ANY reason to suspect the infection was waterborne/linked to school premesis, rather than just a bug doing the rounds in the local community, then environmental health would be investigating it

Could be something as simple as the kids not washing their hands after going to the loo or packed lunches being stored somewhere warm, not necessarily something the school is doing.

If they haven't mixed with each other throughout the holidays then they'll each be carrying different bugs (from the people they did see during the holidays) which they will mix up and pass around when they get back to school.

Dd1 goes to a small school (around 65 kids), as soon as one kid is ill half the school seem to come down with it. I always thought going to a small school = less germs and illness but no, it seems to be the opposite.

Also i think reception children have low immune systems, some may not have been around other children. Last year there was a boy in dd's class (reception) who had never been to a play group or nursery and he was ill almost every week, he seemed to pick up every bug going around. Dd had a few bugs last year, i'm hoping her 2nd year wont be as bad (fingers crossed).

The thing that makes me wonder is that the illness is centred only on the gut not generalised ie no headache fever etc which makes me think that is bacterial not viral.
Also is it a bit quick for them to get ill -just over 12 hours after meeting ?
