But everyone is capable of being unreasonable from time to time and having bitch fits over not much.

Yes I think that's true. Most people are really quite nice. Although I'm saying that from my sunny little country village, rather than say, some war torn hell, where that probably would sound a bit daft.

am so touched by how nice people are being to me and my family at the moment, without being asked, like bringing us food and asking if there is anything they can do while I'm Very Mildly Unwell

My SIL is very lovely. Maybe I should tell her that rather than posting it on MN. I think niceness is increasing in our society at the moment.

Reminds me of a story I once heard:

A man travelling along a road to a new town stopped an old man on the road and asked him "what are the people like here?".
The old man asked "What were they like where you came from?"
"Very friendly and nice"said the traveller.
"I think you'll find them like that here too" said the old man.

Later that same day, another man was travelling along the road when he stopped the same old man on the road and asked him "what are the people like here?".
The old man asked "What were they like where you came from?"
"Grumpy, unfriendly and unhelpful!"said the traveller.
