It just seems a brand new sparkling way to fall out with people that you were never that close to in the first place.

YANBU.

snigger · 25/07/2009 18:03

Oh I just don't get Facebook, haven't even tried.

I only joined to stalk my barking mad sister as a one-off - what's with all the fecking stuff they do on there?

Last time I checked in, around thirty people were throwing fruit and playing poker - wtf?

Don't they know I'm a countrified demi-housewife civil servant?

Find a useful hobby, I say.

Bloody mad, the lot of them.

AitchTwoOh · 25/07/2009 18:08

i love nobbing about in other people's photo albums, honestly, the security defaults are v poor.

BadgersArse · 25/07/2009 18:33

(i was briefly on BA's FB, let me tell you, and there were plenty enough photos of her fellating breezers... she's just being coy now).

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/07/2009 18:35

PMSL - have you been looking at my niece's page, BA?

I quite like FB from the POV of keeping in touch with friends/family and being nosey sharing their photos, but all the apps really irritate me.

BadgersArse · 25/07/2009 18:36

lol
I have about 5 friends.
Sam ronnie sarah kate adn rachel

the rest are aquaintances

I get very stressed about the emails from Facebook saying people want me to be their friends.

Is it impolite to just ignore them?

I want no part of it - but then again worry that I am this generation's equivalent of the old ladies who didn't trust telephones when they first became accessible to all.

cookielove · 25/07/2009 18:39

love it, but then as am i sure someone will point out my age and say yeah thats why!!

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/07/2009 18:40

If you don't want friends, why have a FB page, though, bibbity?

(Although if you're getting requests from people you don't know that is a different matter)

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/07/2009 18:47

Have I got one Biwi?

I replied yes to my sister (although never use it to communicate with her). I posted one message once - "hello" lol.

Does that mean I now have a fb page?

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/07/2009 18:48

P.S. sorry if I seem overfamiliar with your name. Its M i n t y y here.

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/07/2009 18:49

Presumably if you've been asked to be someone's friend, then you will have a page!

bibbitybobbityhat · 25/07/2009 18:50

Am amazed.

BadgersArse · 25/07/2009 19:54

i dont WANt people to find me, pke me or vampire me. if I havent spoken to tehm since university tbh they arent mates

pointydog · 25/07/2009 20:12

Facebook is such a lot of trying-to-be-interesting, look-how-many-friends-I-have garbage.

It's like mn. I don't need another one of them.

I created a page so I could look at my sister's wedding photos but I feel like getting rid of it. People are too nosy.

AitchTwoOh · 25/07/2009 20:35

oh the poking and vampiring thing is just done by newbs. i am suitably disdainful.

pointydog · 25/07/2009 20:41

by the time you've poked an d vampired and sent chocolates and filled in a poxy quiz on 'Which European Country Are You?' it's way past bedtime and your fingers a re sore

JackBauer · 25/07/2009 20:47

I only joined so MIL and my mum could watch videos and see pics of DD's as they both live miles away, but now I have 50 friends, half of which I ahven't seen in years, and loads who post updates in text speak which hurts my eyes, lol, innit, x :D

canttouchthis · 25/07/2009 21:04

FB is truly s**t, IMHO. I set up an account but lost interest very quickly about two years ago. It's very narccistic. Not my idea of a great hobby!

DH thinks it's great, his choice I suppose. Can't see the attraction to it.

BadgersArse · 26/07/2009 15:27

but why not just EMAIL them the video/pics?

OP posts:
stitchtime · 26/07/2009 15:32

becauwse emailing can use up a lot of space in someones inbox
coz not everyone has a fast enoughconnection
coz you dont want to give every one your pictures.
coz, the comments people write on th epcitures are funny, amusing, etc.

why is mumsnet fun? try explaining it to a non mumsnetter. its the same dfference.

AitchTwoOh · 26/07/2009 16:06

i find having to open up each pic etc a pita when people email them, much nicer just to look on fb.
