Yes, YABU.

SoupDragon · 20/06/2009 20:43

It's a shame when stuff gets overlooked but it does happen on a large site where conversations move very quickly.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 20/06/2009 20:43

yes.

Sometimes the board moves fast and posts get missed. It is not personal and it makes no sense for you to change your name because people didn't see your thread.

Change your name back, bump your thread and don't be daft

What the problem with the situation you're living with?

hercules1 · 20/06/2009 20:43

Yes, you are a bit sensitive. It is an internet forum after all.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 20/06/2009 20:43

Whether or not a thread attracts replies can be affected by the time of day, and the day of the week. Give us a link?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 20/06/2009 20:44

Why change your name? So your post didn't get many responses. maybe people felt they couldn't add to what already had been said?

WolframAlpha · 20/06/2009 20:45

link please

NorbertDentressangle · 20/06/2009 20:46

As well as times when the board moves fast there are also times when not many people are around (children's bath and bedtimes, mealtimes etc) -its easy for a thread to just slip off active convos during those times and get lost.

Did you try bumping it at a different time of day?

Parmageddon · 20/06/2009 20:46

This happens often. Just keep bumping your thread. Also make sure it has an interesting title!

junglist1 · 20/06/2009 20:47

Link! I'll advise you, m'dear.

LIZS · 20/06/2009 20:47

Lots of things come in to play, timing of post, how fast the Active board is moving, recent suspicion of trolls etc - try not to take it personally.

yousaidit · 20/06/2009 20:47

ah, my posts are never that exciting so they don't get many replies, but i don't care!

bump your post, some one will notice it!

Heated · 20/06/2009 20:52

Bump it up and we'll offer our thoughts/ support, if it would help but sometimes posts do get overlooked, try not to take it too much to heart. Do you have ppl in RL you can confide in too?

pickyvic · 20/06/2009 21:08

ive done a few threads in which im the only person on it! dont lose heart...if its really important to you then give it a bump. chin up chick eh? dont take it personally.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 20/06/2009 21:10

The other thing which makes a thread peter out is to post and then disappear.

Where's the OP gone?

hester · 20/06/2009 21:27

It's upsetting when that happens but not personal. Tell us now!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 20/06/2009 21:36

Of course, if OP took the advice to bump it, we're all merrily pushing it further down the list by posting here.

Heated · 20/06/2009 21:39

True. Otoh she might be getting all kinds of sage advice - just not ours!

smackapacka · 20/06/2009 21:40

Depends where you posted it. I answered a thread that sounded quite upsetting in 'other subjects' so I wonder whether no-one else saw it. The OP also drifted off.

Maybe post again under a different topic?

QuintessentialShadow · 20/06/2009 21:41

I think the OP needs to stay on the thread and keep the conversation going, otherwise, it will fizzle out.
