In town today, walking in front of me was a lady and her daughter (I assume)

Daughter had huge great high heels on

Would you allow it? She was 5 maybe 6yo!

YANBU, my dds wear the princess ones around the house if dressing up, but not for long and not outside.

They shouldn't really sell things like that imho, the other day dds and I went on some water rides and got soaked through so went to nearest shop to get dds some cheap dry clothes, took me ages to hunt down something that didn't have 'Babe' or somesuch emblazoned across the front, dds are 4 and 2 so babies yes, not babes.

feedthegoat · 19/06/2009 21:03

YANBU. I saw a little girl in a pushchair wearing heels the other week and couldn't help feeling . I honestly don't know why anyone would feel the need to dress a toddler or small child in them.

self · 19/06/2009 21:07

oh cookie love, i haven't laughed so much since i can't remember to think i was desperate to have a girl- no way i am happy with my ds.

Reminds me, I saw a kid the other day (must have been 8-10 hard to tell with girls), but had a t-shirt on with the slogan 'I dont like sex-I love it!' I was like AHHHHHH what are parents sickos thinking!

hullygully · 19/06/2009 21:19

What's wrong with 'em?????????????? They look so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!

monkeyfacegrace · 19/06/2009 21:21

I work at Disney, and we had to withdraw high school musical knickers cuz they said 'dive in'. Urgh.

Chuffinnora · 19/06/2009 21:21

Monkeyfacegrace - No!! Really??!

I took DD to Clarks for the usual summer sandals run and because she is a size 1 (despite being only 7 she's tall) I struggled to find something without a wedge heel. In Clarks!! I thought it was a sanctity for the sensible shoe but no more. Very disturbing.

glitterstar88 · 19/06/2009 21:24

My mum used to let me wear heels from about the age of 8/9. Some were about 4inches high. I probably would of had a big strop if she had said no to me though. Thinking about it now makes me cringe and if i ever had a DD i would not let her wear heels at such a young age.

I used to work in brantano, some of the shoes in there are ridiculous like the little kitten heeled shoes that none of the girls who tried them on could walk in properly etc. Last time i went in there they were selling bratz wellington boots with heels!

vixma · 19/06/2009 21:34

TeaOneSugar · 19/06/2009 21:38

I still can't believe they make wellies with heels - my dd would love a pair but it's never going to happen.

NightShoe · 19/06/2009 21:44

Yes, we were in Brantano today too, cue DD who is only just 3 with fairly large feet at a size 10 picking up a a pair of black glittery bratz shoes and asking to try them on

cookielove · 19/06/2009 21:44

scottishmummy · 19/06/2009 21:45

what is brantano?

vixma · 19/06/2009 21:45

Thankyou!

Jux · 19/06/2009 22:05

There was a child in my dd's class who, in Y3 was wearing 3" heels to school. DD told her that she shouldn't wear them as they would make her bones grow wrong.

OK, it was what I told dd when she asked for heels, but I was so embarrassed that she was telling this poor child that her mum shouldn't let her wear them.

She shouldn't have though.

deste · 19/06/2009 22:14
