I allowed ds1 to have a FB page for contact with his father. Anyway he has added some school friends....

please bear in mind these are 10-11 yr olds.

Just thought I would check his profile and clean it up and I found one of the kids in his class who i had told him NOT to add has a photo under which it says......

dis girl is riding my big ninga bike looooool

WTF

is ninga bike a penis?

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/05/2009 21:46

I would imagine!

I hate the other kid anyway. He is surrounded by drug dealers and gang members, he is a 2ft tall bully who has bullied ds1 on more than one occassion.

have you told your DS you've seen it?

ThePhantomPlopper · 01/05/2009 21:48

He sounds lovely.

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/05/2009 21:49

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/05/2009 21:51

Jenny. its a very long story but FB was the only way he COULD make contact otherwise he would not have had it trust me!

Have you heard of Dads space?

They have been set up to allow contact between estranged dads and their kids. They have chat room, email and online games etc.
Its all carefully monitored.

I met the organisers at a seminar and it looked brilliant.

I dont have the details but maybe you could google if you are interested?

Che, I will google it!

Shineon, Trust me we spent 3 years emailing, texting and phoning. Even down to contacting various members of his fathers family and social circle.

Then i happened to stumble across him on FB and ds1 asked if he could message him. Knowin he would not make contact with me I allowed him to.

i guess if its only this one friend thats not right and he removes him all will be ok?? if it is then i wouldnt worry too much just keep an eye out, might be worth also blocking this undesireable lad so he cant search for him and also cant snd him messages to ask him to add him again??

solidgoldSneezeLikeApig · 01/05/2009 22:12

Is it really a good idea to prohibit your child from communicating at all with another child? this other boy is only 10 and may be inclined to express himself vulgarly (like many 1- year olds) but he's not exactly Al Capone.

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/05/2009 22:15

Solid, this child? yes i said he could add a few friends but NOT this one in particular as he is not a nice child

Hmm. Kids always have one friend that the parents don't like and prohibiting the friend usually makes the friend more desirable and your own child more inclined to sneak around behind your back.

MANATEEequineOHARA · 01/05/2009 23:17

Maybe you should tell your ds's father that if fb is the only way he can communicate then better not communicate at all. It is not fair that you and your ds should have to go out of your way to keep your son in touch with his 'dad'.

The kid sounds like an idiot, but not as bad as what I thought when I originally read the post and thought that it was your ex talking about a girl on your ds's fb .

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/05/2009 23:51

Manatee,

TBH The contact is now few and far between again, ever since ds1 asked for his permission for his real dad (my dp) to adopt him. iyswim?
