Got a text from my girflreind this morning asking if Id take her to a wedding. she was supposed to be getting a lift off someone else but it fell through so I agreed. She also asked if Id pick her up later so I agreed.

6pm she text me and said "im ready to leave, can you pick me up?"

I sent a text back saying "On my way"

10 minutes later Im halfway there and get a text saying "have you already set off?" so I text back and said "yes why?" so she says she needs more time and would I pick her up later. So i drive home.

7pm she text and said "can you pick me up in 15 minutes?" so I text back "yes, on my way"

Set off again, 3/4 of the way there she text again saying "speeches not finoshed, I better make it 8pm. sorry x"

So I go home again. 8pm I phone here and say "You ready to leave?" and she said "yes" so I set off, get to the party, wait outside and text that I was there. HALF AN HOUR LATER she leaves the party.

Im pissed off and she thinks Im overreacting.

YANBU, she should have text when she was really ready. That is taking the piss.

Niftyblue · 11/04/2009 22:45

You have every reason to be pissed off

You`ve spent most of the day waiting to taxi her about
Shes ready NO shes not
Yes she is No shes not

YANBU

LadyOfScoffleTheEasterEggs · 11/04/2009 22:47

YANBU - but what are you doing texting while driving - that is very U...

ComeOeufeneer · 11/04/2009 22:48

Unreasonable behaviour on her part. And this is the woman you want to marry! (doesn't show a lot of respect for you I'm afraid)

zisforzebra · 11/04/2009 22:48

YANBU! You've got more patience than me, i'd have told her to get a taxi after the second time! To make you wait outside is just rude. I'd have texted after 10 minutes, that if she wasn't ouside within the next 5 minutes I'd be off.

ComeOeufeneer · 11/04/2009 22:49

I though that too about the texting whilst driving

BayCityRocker · 11/04/2009 22:49

I stopped first deadprirate.

Then you're YANBU all the way

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/04/2009 23:06

Would have to agree with everyone else she is taking da piss....putting it mildly.

BrokenFlipFlop · 11/04/2009 23:09

YANBU - I can't quite understand why she can't see that she was out of order/selfish.

JuxaLOTmoreChocolate · 11/04/2009 23:12

YANBU

steviesgirl · 12/04/2009 01:21

Cheeky mare. I wouldn't have the nerve to mess someone who was doing me a favour around. If she can't get her arse ready for the agreed time then she is taking the piss. You were very patient actually. I would have said something a lot sooner if it was me.

Reminds me of a "friend" I had at work. I swear to God the only reason she really clung to me was the fact that I was her free taxi service. Instead of making the effort and learning to drive, she'd rather just use everyone else as a means of getting about. I was a mug.

Stand up for yourself next time, otherwise some people can walk all over you. I know I've been there.

tigerdroveoverthebunnies · 12/04/2009 01:37

Look in the mirror.

Can you see G. U . M. on your forehead.

Tell her about taxis and how they work.

StercusAccidit · 12/04/2009 01:48

She's a woman

So yes, YABU

StercusAccidit · 12/04/2009 01:48

She's a woman

You men should be at our beck and call 24/7...

So yes, YABU

StercusAccidit · 12/04/2009 01:49

oops

Was so good i said it twice lol

Baisey · 12/04/2009 10:15

If I did that to my husband it would be grounds for divorce!
JK
But still... she needs to be more considerate of you.

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 12/04/2009 10:17

Very unreasonable of her! Next time tell her to book a taxi.

I hope she was grateful.

QuintessentialShadow · 12/04/2009 10:25

The question is:

Why would she leave the wedding so early?

Had you ASKED her to leave the wedding early?
Had you made her compromise on the wedding party by asking her for a date after the wedding?

If so, you are a twat and deserve to be messed about. If NOT, then yanbu, she is taking the piss.

kittywise · 12/04/2009 10:32

It always amazes me what some people will put up with.

I would say the woman has no respect for you at all. Can't make you feel very 'manly' really. She is using you.

SlartyBartFastlaidanegg · 12/04/2009 10:34

why didnt you get an invite though?

she is definitely taking advantage of you?
