First one along the lines of

We are in desperate need of a tv corner unit ours is broke and we can't afford a new one must be light coloured to match the rest of our furniture . Must also have shelves for the sky box and dvd player.

Second one from same person.

Our little boy has a ds and would like some games for it also any wii games as we only have the wii sports and he finds it a bit hard .

I love freecycle I got a gorgeous sofa last week from it but I was replying to an offer and my old one was falling to bits .

Someone came and took my broken dryer yesterday too .

Just thought it was quite cheeky .

Wanted one tent peg and guy rope and instructions for DH on what a strimmer can cut!! Tent is all packed away now and I really would like to have a complete set now rather than panic when junior wants it out again next year!

beep · 11/04/2009 13:56

sorry meant to say I liked this one, Idon't like the ones that are very specific as to colour /make etc

boogiewoogie · 11/04/2009 13:59

We had one a while back in the summer along the lines on Wanted; Xbox or similar now that my exams are over, I need something to amuse myself with

5intheEgg · 11/04/2009 14:25

Someone once asked for a moped or scooter as they had just moved out of the city centre to a rather plush part of town and didn't like to commute by bus

I replied to a lovely ad the other day, looking for a lid for a tommee tippee baby bottle. I have a few spare, so didn't mind at all.

DDraigoch33 · 13/04/2009 23:51

Someone asked for 'pond pants' on our local freecycle.

Waaah!

kissyfurschaos · 13/04/2009 23:56

Someone on ours asked for a caravan last week. Apparently to ut on her drive so she can escape from her five children!
The next day a message came on the email digests to say it had been deleted!
Love freecycle though, have spent the morning clearing box upon box of books and videos from parent's spare room and have arranged for a freecycler to collect them tomo. Parent's are elderly and I don't drive.

kissyfurschaos · 13/04/2009 23:57

*put

ja9 · 14/04/2009 00:00

i tell you, freecycle messages should be sold in bundles to stand up comedians - there is so much material in there...!

kissyfurschaos · 14/04/2009 00:03

totally agree ja9 there are some corkers posted here and have pmsl at some on our local board.
The woman asking for the caravan even had the cheek to specify which berths would be acceptable.

nickschick · 14/04/2009 00:03

we had one asking for a landrover

ja9 · 14/04/2009 00:05

one of our moderators offered a single clip on earring... she even went into detail about what it looked like - was that just in case someone had the same pair and had also lost one?!

knickers0nmahead · 14/04/2009 16:13

Someone asked for a p+t double not so long ago, in apple green though, with accessories as they cannot afford one and dont like other buggies

I didnt like other doubles so I saved every spare penny to get mine.

MorrisZapp · 14/04/2009 16:18

Ok, devils advocate here.

Surely the point of freecycle is to link up people with unwanted items and people who want those items?

Ie it isn't a poverty competition with free stuff as the prize?

I haven't used freecycle but I can't see what's wrong with being quite specific in your want ads.

I'd have thought the only qualifications the person would need would be a) wanting your stuff and b) being able to collect it.

knickers0nmahead · 14/04/2009 16:22

Morris, if someone is desperate for say a tv unit, it wouldnt matter what colour it was would it?

If they needed a pushchair, surely if you are in dire need of one, any will do? Fair enough, ask for a small folding one if you get a bus but does anyone actually need an apple green p+t???
