because I don't know what to do with Good Friday?

We're not Christians and I love the day off and everything, but here we're all just drifting about in our pjs, smelling a bit and making average plans for a bit of a walk and a bit of a meal.

Good Friday always seems to sneak up on us and suddenly we're saying "Oh yeah... day off, thanks... umm, wish I'd planned this a bit better..."

We don't do anything special either. It's just a good excuse to get some DIY done and not waste the whole of your 2 days off a week!

ChippingIn · 10/04/2009 11:08

Marla - what's up??

GentleOtter - the closest I'm getting to that is going to the supermarket for veg for the guinea pigs, might pick up a mint plant for them as a treat.... LOL (nice to know I'm not the only one still in jammies!!).

Cailleachna · 10/04/2009 11:09

Well, my DH is working today and I'm working tonight, so aside from the bank holiday pay, no different for us!

flowerybeanbag · 10/04/2009 11:11

I am working DH has gone off out with DS for the morning without me

We are off to France next week but as I work for myself my clients don't give me holiday obviously so going away means I need to squeeze in my work over the Easter weekend.

Shambolic · 10/04/2009 11:14

DH working here too, his next day off is Tues when I am working

ComeOeufeneer · 10/04/2009 11:16

Dh is still asleep, the rest of us are in our pjs. No plans at all other than me going to the supermarket to get food for the weekend. We were supposed to be going to my sisters today for the weekend but we are on day 6 of a D+V bug (everyone but me that is), so haven't left the house all week. Terrible waste of DH's 4 days off work!

Pottering, Avon round, nice lunch, trip to fave park and that will do me and DS: the rest of the weekend is rammed anyway.

We're still in pjs here too, well except for my poor husband who is at work. We're heading off for a weekend away in Clonakilty tomorrow though, in a lovely hotel with hot and cold running childcare, so I'm very excited about that. Sprog and I are busying planning what geocaching we can do while we're away, so quite enjoying the day off so far.

stainesmassif · 10/04/2009 12:04

pottering. can't be beaten. have sorted underwear drawers and walking into town for lunch this afternoon with dh. that's all. bliss!

DitaVonCheese · 10/04/2009 12:08

Still in pjs here too Should be sorting out garden but DD is asleep on my lap and I am lacking motivation.

ChippingIn · 10/04/2009 12:23

glastocat - I did some geocaching with friends when they were staying with us (just as well I went as they'd never have found it alone!! LOL) and it was great fun Clonakilty looks lovely, have you been before?

DitaVonCheese - a moment to be treasured esp if you can MN at the same time!!

I really must go to the supermarket though guinea pigs are demanding to be fed!

DitaVonCheese · 10/04/2009 12:25

Just makes me crap at typing!

VeryAnnieMary · 10/04/2009 12:32

Pooh-bah to the lot of yer - am at work (but still tittin' about on MN rather than doing the sensible things and just getting on with it.) Dh at home nursing hangover - am well out of it.

Happy Easter!

ChippingIn · 10/04/2009 12:37

VeryAnnieMary Happy Easter

Sorry you have to work while we are lolling around in our jammies - feel free to rub it in when you are next off and we aren't!! Besides, off to the supermarket soon, where there will be a million people buying 2 trolley loads because it will be shut Sunday... damn Guinea Pigs ... oh, them and the urge for Hot Cross Buns (and NO I am not going to make any!! LOL).

Alibabaandthe40bunnies · 10/04/2009 14:27

Similar here. The weather is crap and I want to go shopping but DH won't go which is very strange as he is normally dead keen - we want things for DS, it won't be him trailing round after me trying stuff on!
Neither of us are dressed properly yet and I feel like we're wasting the day.

TheCrackFox · 10/04/2009 14:36

I had completely forgotten it was Good Friday until I read this thread.

Obviously we aren't doing anything special either. DH is working today - like most other bank holidays.

glastocat · 10/04/2009 14:44

ChippingIn, yes we've been to Clonakilty before, its only an hour down the road from Cork. Its a great place little place though, the beaches are just unreal and the pubs are fantastic. We're going to one of those family hotels which has a kids camp each day, so me and husband can loll about doing bugger all if we want. I can't wait!

As for the geocaching, we love it! My mum has been geocaching for years with my kid, so we thought we'd have a go. Its a great way to get a free day out once you have bought a GPS, and I'm not sure who enjoys it more, kids or adults. It always seems to take you to great places too, so I highly recommend with kids. We've got a bit mental hooked, we've even put out a few caches for others to find.

TsarChasm · 10/04/2009 14:48

I have often wondered with Good Friday...how does it always feel like a Sunday? Sort of flat.

And bank holiday Mondays always feel like Sundays anyway. So the whole Easter weekend feels like a string of Sundays.

DitaVonCheese · 10/04/2009 15:05

TC, totally agree.

DD asleep on me again!

EightiesChick · 10/04/2009 17:46

Pottering is great. I love the 'extra day off' thing even if you just hang around in pjs. Had do an errand to help out a friend this morning but then went for nice pub meal (though DS cried a lot) and now catching up on watching stuff from Sky + box.

wintera · 10/04/2009 18:17

You are supposed to eat fish so treat yourselves to a nice fish supper!
