i asked him if he wanted one of my spare carrier bags!?

i had a few too many as i brought my own so i said to the man next to me holding out the bag 'would you like to use this?' and he looked at me for a few secs with an awful face then said er, no. not even a no 'thank you'

no gratitude. it would of saved one more new carrier being used. and he only had 4 things too.

Well, he could've been more polite but TBH I wouldn't accept a used carrier bag from a stranger.

Idranktheeasterspirits · 31/03/2009 12:43

Why not chippy? They aren't likely to have been used as a makeshift condom.....

juicychops · 31/03/2009 12:47

oh and i left it there anyway with all the other bags and they did use it anyway

shit, that's why I got pregnant last tine IDTES

He could have been a germophobe or something. Also, random acts of kindness like that are so few and far between he was probably too shocked to answer you properly

cazzybabs · 31/03/2009 12:56

i would have had your plastic bag

Lawks · 31/03/2009 12:58

It would depend on the look of you. If you looked nice I might use your carrier bag, but if I didn't like the look of you I wouldn't. I'd be polite though.

Rhubarb · 31/03/2009 12:58

Perhaps he thought you were suggesting he put it on his head?

OrmIrian · 31/03/2009 12:59

Perhaps you should have put it on his head.

juicychops · 31/03/2009 13:04

well sunday morning in the supermarket i probably dont look my best, but i wouldn;t say i look like a trampy person who could have been using the same bag for the last 5 years to carry mouldy food

perhaps i should of put it on his head

Intersting that you said dead animal in the OP because I would have (politely) refused your offer, because as a vegetarian I would have worried that you'd previously used the bag to carry home one of those rotisserie chickens that oozes everywhere.

juicychops · 31/03/2009 13:11

thats fair enough i suppose. but oozie bags i have to throw out straight away

I agree with Crackopenthebaileys, probably so taken aback at a stranger being friendly (depending on where you live, it's often said people are friendlier up north!) and didn't know what to say.

ChippyMinton · 31/03/2009 13:20

at requiring a condom the size of a carrier bag.
