To wonder why it is that grown (nay postively) elderly British folk have annoying penchant for frothy milky hot drinks and should stop it forthwith???

Highly irritating when one is behind some dullard who order 4 hot chocolates, 3 cappucinos and 5 Eccles cakes.
Get a grip and grow up.

Well Eckles cakes taste like death, so I'm with you there.

FAQinglovely · 28/03/2009 23:54

moondog · 28/03/2009 23:54

YABcompletelyU.
Nowt wrong with a good hot chocolate, although finding a decent Eccles cake outside of Yorkshire is a bit more tricky (never enough currants)

Thunderduck · 28/03/2009 23:55

YABU. I love milky drinks. In fact I'm having Horlicks at the moment.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 28/03/2009 23:55

Eccles cakes are fly pies aren't they? havent' had one of those for years.

I don't understand cappucinos. hot chocolate fine but any coffee with milk is wrong IME.

FAQinglovely · 28/03/2009 23:55

got to be decent hot chocolate no - none of this cadbury crap

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 28/03/2009 23:57

LOL at "finding a decent Eccles cake outside of Yorkshire"

Eccles is in Salford I think they get on ok with them there!

differentEggD · 28/03/2009 23:57

is it what they ordered or the quantities that piss you off?

moondog · 28/03/2009 23:58

Both Diff.
Honestly, to think we once ruled the world and are now reduced to shuffling along in queues with plastic trays, ordering beige milky drinks.
Sheesh.

Ah well, Dad is from Sheffield and he always reckons the best ones came from there!
Fly pies, yes.

7 drinksand only5eccles cakes .....a tad worrying is that!!!

differentEggD · 28/03/2009 23:59

pmsl. Would it have been better if they'd ordered Welsh cakes? and strong tea?

thumbbunny · 29/03/2009 00:00

ah well, if you'd said beige hot chocolate in the op then of course you would have been reasonable. Hot chocolate should be much darker than that.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 29/03/2009 00:01

I have to say there's not much worse than the idea of sharing an eccles cake. now that's sad.

moondog · 29/03/2009 00:03

If you'd told me 20 years ago (when all I did was swill pints and ingesat illegal substances that I would stand in a queue with a plastic tray out of choice, i would have fallen off bar stool laughing.

Oh, tempus fugit and all that.

Well it pisses me off. Every Saturday, 11am, me, DH, DD, DB, SIL and nieces plonk ourselves down in Caffe Nero for coffee, cake and a gossip. The last month or so our seats have been nicked by the old lady brigade who buy one tea between 9 of them and sit there all bleedin' day. The cheek of it. Since when did old people go in coffee shops. I blame BHS closing down...
