A genuine question about Skype

Since joining Skype, I keep getting girls who 'want to be my friend' sending me messages, asking me to contact them. The website they link to is always something like 'sexy ladies' dot com.
so, obviously, i block them.

it then gives me the option to report them.
AIBU to report these 'new friends'?

I would

There's an option to not receive messages from people not in your address book.

I have never had anyone want to be my friend on skype. Thank goodness. My name is not my real name though, just words, maybe that is why.

BouncingTurtle · 23/03/2009 07:45

How strange - I use Skype a lot to keep in touch with my mum (down Sarf) and my dad (in Spain) but have never had anyone ask to be my friend!
I've jut checked my settings (look under File menu and select Privacy) and it says anyone can contact me and I do have my name in my username!

But I only start Skype up when I'm going to make a call or know mum or dad are about to ring. Then I exit is completely once I finished my call.
Suggest you check your privacy settings and change accordingly.

i had my 1st one of those last night

she had the same name as an actual RL friend so for a while i wondered if it was my real friend.... so i said who r u do i know u, and then she linkd me to that site so i blocked her..
she was actually IMing me

agree its very annoying and im hoping it doesnt happen again

I would report them - you might be able to deal with them but what if they start on young people/children - they are a PITA.

nannyL · 23/03/2009 09:22

if i had noticed a link to report i would have!
