Baby due date is today and people keeping asking me if I have had any twinges yet. I wish I had but it's starting to bug me. I'm trying my best to keep busy and not think about it too much but people will keep trying to remind me. Getting more p'd off! Any tips for bringing it on naturally?

This may be tmi but sex worked for both of mine. Did the deed and contractions started within 6 hours each time.

belgo · 15/03/2009 16:31

Well have you had the baby yet pink76?

I'm having the opposite happen. A good friend is expecting her baby soon, and she keeps on texting me updates on her pregnancy. And I am so excited for her.

pink76 · 15/03/2009 16:31

We've tried that! tried curry, half a lager, speed bumps, long walk and getting really annoyed trying to fit a car seat but nothing working! Maybe she's just not ready to come out just yet! Thanks tho, fun trying!

Sex, sex, sex. Nipple stimulation. Bounce on a birthing/exercise ball (if you have one).

To be fair though, those things will only help if your cervix is ready/ripe anyway, so if baby's not ready to come yet, it won't come!

Sorry - good luck!

pink76 · 15/03/2009 16:33

I did that too and Think I got very annoying! They are all really excited so maybe I should just be glad people care!

Getting grumpy tho! poor dh!

I hate those last few days/weeks of pregnancy, when you're so big and struggle to eat anything (or maybe it was just me? )

Is this your first child? Try and enjoy the last precious time without a newborn - sounds like a stupid thing to say, but I wish I'd done that more in the last weeks of both my pregnancies!

pink76 · 15/03/2009 16:36

We're also in the middle of trying to buy a house and trying to sell mine so no wonder I'm a bit on edge!

Yeah, first one. Not having trouble eating really but getting about is proving hard. my bloke bought me velcro trainers for my birthday because I couldn't bend properly to tie laces! Bless him, he's very patient!

tis annoying isn't it, DD was 2 weeks late and from the week before due date I was getting calls and messages from everyone. I know they meant well but hormonally challenged it felt like I was keeping the baby from them on purpose. I switched my phone off in the end. I can't suggest anything for you as I was induced though, but try to savour these quiet days, hard when you are tired and bloated I know. Good luck though and baby will be here soon and this will all be a blur.

Ambi · 15/03/2009 16:50

Next time I'll be telling people my due date is 2 weeks after it is

pink76 · 15/03/2009 16:54

Ah, good thinking!

Definately. Would be worse if no one was bothered!

One of my best friends rang me every day for the three weeks leading up to ds being born!!!!! I was just glad people cared enough to bother.
Good luck with baby, shall we keep posting till he/she arrives???

Horton · 15/03/2009 17:24

The best bit is how people ring you for a chat and after a while say 'So, no baby then, yet?'

And you think 'what on earth are they expecting me to say? Oh yes, I had him three days ago, I must have forgotten to mention it?'

nikki2607 · 15/03/2009 18:57

This does get a bit annoying i agree. Everybody thought i was going to have my baby early so kept texting weeks leading up to my due date!!! Ended up being a day late.
Have you tried fresh pineapple and a long walk???
I did this the nite before my due date and started getting contractions the next morning.

Good luck with the baby.

GreyEyedWitch · 22/06/2021 20:28

Ergh. I hated this, it drove me crazy! I also hated the people that tried to work out if I was in labour yet by sending frequent messages to see if I would reply.

bananamonkey · 22/06/2021 20:29

Just pop this on your SM

Guzzlingguzz · 22/06/2021 20:30

The baby will be 12 years old now!

Gullible2021 · 22/06/2021 20:34

I've never asked repeatedly but on several occasions I've had a group text/whatsapp/social media post from friends saying that they were switching their phone off for a while to enjoy the remainder of the time they have as a couple so they wouldn't be replying to texts for a while, please don't be offended, we'll be in touch when baby is here!

Could that work for you?
