to expect the window cleaner NOT to clean the bathroom window while I am in the shower?

Having a shower at 8.20 this morning (so still morning time) and heard scraping and something banging window - ladder! And a minute later the sqwidgee(sp?) thing is wiping the outside of the window - outline of window cleaner at window. WTF?

The window is frosted but no blinds or curtains as we look out onto woodlands so we're not overlooked, but it is frosted bathroom glass. Also the window was slighty open to allow condensation out. Surely, he would have heard me (shower on) and thought, I'll wait till they're finished, but no!

Am i being unreasonable to think this was bang out of order?

did he have bad teeth and was he strumming a banjo?

VinegarTits · 11/02/2009 17:23

YABU he wont have known you were in the shower

Get some blinds

fattiemumma · 11/02/2009 17:24

he has more than one house to do and he has probably alloted a certain amount of time to be spent on each house.
did you not realise he was cleaning your windows prior to getting into the shower?

ybu

Twims · 11/02/2009 17:25

Agree with VT - YABU - He won't have known that you were in there - and maybe now is the right time to get blinds.

justneedsomesleep · 11/02/2009 17:26

no didn't realise...get up, feed baby, jump in shower - all without opening blinds to see who is about....

YABU. And I doubt he would have seen much if it is bathroom glass

justneedsomesleep · 11/02/2009 17:28

I scampered out as soon as possible...

Not much too see and what little there is, ain't in great shape!

Still, I woke up fast!

yanbu
never heard of a window cleaner starting so early! except for shop windows!

VinegarTits · 11/02/2009 17:30

He should know when your taking a shower/shit/piss and wait at the bottom of his ladder until your finished

These pyschic window cleaners just dont seem to exist do they

justneedsomesleep · 11/02/2009 17:32

the window was open - he would have HEARD IT! It's a small bathroom...pretty obvious what I would be doing with the shower on, early in the morning....is it not?

yabvu

tis frosted so he couldn't see shit anyway
why the hell should he wait to do his job just becasue you dont want to be in the shower when he is doing it
and because you decided not to have blinds

ok so he heard the shower and thought nothing of it

why would he think 'oh no I better not wash a window I cant see through because someone is having a shower'

justneedsomesleep · 11/02/2009 17:35

To be clear on the blinds issue..when we moved in we inherited the old owners, we re-did the bathroom and had to take them down. I am a crap grown up and do not know how to a)put up blinds and b}have no money to buy new ones

Calm down and be happy that you gave the chap his jollies for the day!
I bet he had a smile on his face and a spring in his step all day...

YABU - as others said he's just dashing from one job to the next.

HOWEVER - for all those who think he'd have been able to see nothing through the frosted glass - you are sooooo wrong. I often go out cycling late at night or early morning (05:30) - and I'm constantly amazed by a)the amount of people who don't have blinds in their bathrooms, and b)the amount of people who think that, when it's dark outside - and they have the bathroom light on inside - frosted glass renders them invisible! I've seen far more than I've ever wished to see through 'frosted' bathroom windows - without trying, I hasten to add!

MrsSchmaltzyMerryHenry · 11/02/2009 17:40

Maybe he was gay and not interested in seeing your bod?

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 18:09

this sounds like a good plot for a film..think I'd set in the 70s..

psychomum5 · 11/02/2009 18:17

time for blinds me thinks!

MarmadukeScarlet · 11/02/2009 18:26

He is at this moment posting on windowcleanersweekly.com

AIBU to expect my customer to stay out of the shower whilst I clean her bathroom window - oh my eyes!
