To be annoyed that DS nearly had...

a lit cigar stumbed into his face.

Why do people forget about babies/children in pushchairs.

I had gone out with him forward facing and because it was crowded people were having to squeeze through and this elderly gentleman who had a cigar in his hand nearly got DS in the face with it.

I wish people wouldn't smoke in crowded areas for this reason

YANBU at all and that is one of my pet peeves - people walking along with a cig in their hands at my dd1's head height. Why should we have to teach our children to watch out for the people with stuff on fire in their hands? I think the onus is on the smoker to smoke safely (i.e. anywhere I'm not!)

Olifin · 23/12/2008 16:09

Totally agree, and I'm a smoker.

yanbu

I think they just don't think, rather than do it on purpose.

lonevoiceinthedark · 23/12/2008 16:14

YANBU. This is one of the reasons I won't take my dcs to houseparties. Saw the most horrible burn to a child's face once caused by someone dancing whilst holding a fag.
Not a problem of course at a public event, but you can't tell people what to do in their own homes (and unfortunately not on the street).

DoubleBluff · 23/12/2008 16:28

How awful
I think smoking should be banned full stop

MaryBeWaiting · 23/12/2008 16:57

YANBU Did you say anything?

IllegallyBrunette · 23/12/2008 17:01

YANBU

The 2yr old dd of a mum I know had her dress set on fire in the school playground because some idiot flicked a fag end and it landed in her buggy. The girl and her mum suffered burns to their hands when they tried to pat the fire out.

stoppinattwo · 23/12/2008 17:02

when DS was a toddler my best friend accidentally caught him in the face with a cigarette....he was soooo sorry and is always so careful now, i tihnk the thing was he didnt have children and it didnt cross his mind about the danger. YANBU, but i dont think anyone would intentionally cause harm in this way, it is just not consideration XX

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 23/12/2008 21:47

No i didn't say anything, it was just too busy to stop.

Plus i am young(ish) and don't want to live up any stereotypes by having a go.

LB + SAT thats awful for those poor children
