AIBU?

To hate how so many threads are now posted as a joke, pretending it's serious. Or is it just me?

No, I can't take this anymore. Reposting from chat, as I really need to get opinions on this. Bracing myself for getting told off...

Here goes:
Whilst I don't mind a proper joke thread, can even enjoy a tongue in the cheek AIBU, I find the latest trend of asking something, just to turn around 2 pages later saying it's all a joke, rather annoying.

This is not a thread-about-a-(specific)-thread, but lately every second question is fake.

And yes, I know I can just ignore it, but sometimes I wonder if it could be an actual issue, in which case I'd like to give advice / an opinion.

Has anyone noticed, or is this just me being affected by the End Of Year Madness epidemic that seems to be spreading?

It is really, seriously annoying me.

I haven't noticed, honestly. Maybe I am posting in the wrong places.

Ronaldinhio · 22/12/2008 20:38

sal I think maybe you need a bit of a lie down with the liberal application of Baileys

yabu she suggests gently

loobeylou · 22/12/2008 20:42

Ah, but do you really feel this way OP, or is this another wind up?
{suspicious emoticon}

Quattrocento · 22/12/2008 20:42

Oh I did that. Sorry. Did not mean to offend. Here is my joke thread It did end up quite funny though.

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 20:47

Ah dammit. No, this thread meant seriously, but I fear I might be ever so slightly unreasonable then.

Damn.

It's all gone a bit tense tonight

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 20:49

However, should these fake threads lead to me being prescribed said Baileys, I might have to admit that they aren't that bad after all.

Sal, for what it is worth, I agree with you....it's getting a bit much and so boring....

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 20:54

Phew, thanks ChristmasFairy! You may have some of my Baileys if you want though, as I'm keeping it.

lol.....not sure I should be mixing my drink ...am on Asdas cheapo but lovely Cocktail mix (cosmopolitan) ...yum....and stronger than I thought, at only 4 %

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 22/12/2008 21:00

btw...am on another thread that seems to be a jokey one and we don't seem to be the only ones where who think that the jokes are getting a bit weak and annoying

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 21:04

It's just that it seems to be every second one at the moment! (And this is coming from someone that actually like reading a good troll thread on occasion.) I was however worrying (well, might be a leeeeetle bit of Long Year Syndrome on my side too) that I'm imagining it all.

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 21:07

Oh, and yes, saw that thread (well, posted on it earlier on), and part of me wants to help this poor demented person not to make a complete fool of herself, but mostly I know it's surely a windup so should be joked about.

OP posts:
ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 22/12/2008 21:09

lol Sal

ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 22/12/2008 21:11

I think with all these joke threads it sort of makes it so difficult at times to know when something is for real...and some poor, very real person, with very real problems, might be treated nastily and not taken seriously just because of all those other threads....

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 21:16

I agree completely. To make my it worse, I actually feel really sorry when someone is accused to be a troll or told to f off (usually in those words!) just because it's assumed that most strange threads are jokes now.

OP posts:
ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 22/12/2008 21:19

indeed...know where you are coming from...sometimes, and with some people real life is stranger than fiction.....so, I tend to try to keep an open mind....but it is hard sometimes...

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 22/12/2008 23:00

Well, I'm off to pack for our Christmas holiday now, leaving tomorrow morning - you'll see, when I come back after a week I'll be an alcoholic relaxed and not upset about anything for a week ever again!

Merry Christmas to all!

OP posts:
ChristmasFairySantAsSLut · 22/12/2008 23:44

lol....a merry x-mas to you, too

pamelat · 23/12/2008 20:31

I think jokey is ok but the troll threads drive me crazy, so pointless.
