We are moving house in January.

At present we are with talktalk (spit)

We are going over to Sky for everything, TV, Phone Broadband.

So yesterday I phoned Sky, set up all of it, apart from the line, as that had to be done by BT, as the house we are moving into is a Army Quarter that has been refurbished and new lines have been put in. They are going to do it on the 12th,

So I phone BT, to make appointment for the 9th.

Sorry we cant make a appointment that far ahead. its less than a month! With xmas in between.

The nearest they can make is 5th.

I Can book for the 9th from the 25th December!!!!

So I phone the project manager for the quarters to see if they can get in on the 5th, as she is lovely she is going to let the in.

So back to BT, go through everything again.

Tell them I want to take my number (I am a CM, so it is also my work number)

I can only do that if, wait for it,

I pay £50.00 to go back to BT today, then pay £123.00 to turn the line on, and £46.00 to take number with me!

I told them verso politely to stuff it!

I am changing number with all that inconveniences (actually retiring in 6 months so not to bad really)
So I phone back to
So this was all yesterday.

Just had a phone call.

They cant do it on the 5th.

Can they book it for the 9th !!!!!!!!!!!

NO. Sky is coming now on the 9th aarrrggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

If they come before BT they cant put it in!

After much arguing and me saying that yesterday I couldn't book as far as the 9th, they are now coming on the 6th!

Good luck...All our problems started when we moved our phone from talktalk. We were without a phone and broadband for over 3 months in all. Having spent many hours in the library on the internet researching solutions we got off lightly with 3 months!

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 16/12/2008 12:46

Oh dont say that!!! We are leaving talk talk for sky.

Actually it might be a good idea than that we have got a new line and a new number!

asicsgirl

We are moving into a new refurbished Army quarter in January (no choice they want the one we are in to do up)

Then at the end of the school year we are moving into a private rent, in the town we want to settle in, as DH's gratuity on leaving the Army is not through till September, and I need to be in new town for new job at start of term.

THEN by the end of the year we will have, hopefully moved into our own home!!!!!!!!

If this happens every time I will have gone mad by next Christmas!

They also told me NDTH that I couldn't have only a line rental I had to take a 18 month package contract, which I knew I didn't!

NDTH- are you me?? I had EXACTLY the same experience with B*tard Telecom when we moved house. Unfortunately it came as no surprise- I have a whole dossier of letters I have had to write to BT over the few years we were with them. They are completely and utterly useless, in every way shape and form, and I finally moved to talktalk. People warned me there would be problems with talktalk, but I figured it couldn't be any worse than BT and I am paying £20 LESS a month! So far, so good...

BT have phoned me a couple of times to ask why I left them I laugh at them and tell them to check my file and read one of the huge volume of bitter letters I wrote them for the full story. I would rather use tin cans and string than go back to BT!!

You should feel pleased with yourself that you haven't gone to Tiscali like I've done. WHAT an eejit I am, they are beyond hopeless. We already got our phone calls through Tiscali and I signed up to get line rental and broadband too. Ha ha ha. They haven't done anything without reminding (send modem, contact BT, activate the phone line), we still can't make outgoing calls and when I phone up I get some (delete racist comment, I'm not that wound up by them yet) chap/ess in an Indian Call Centre who always promises to escalate my problem...

AAAAAAAAAAagggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.

We moved into a brand new house and had no phone line at all for 4 weeks. Then we had to pay £124 for the priviledge as this was the first connection. But guess what you get compensated. Yes a whopping great big £1 per day but not including weekends. So we received £20, it cost more than £20 over 4 weeks to keep calling them for updates.

They also didn't install a BB line so we couldn't transfer with AOL. We ended up being off line for 16 weeks thanks to the imcompetence of AOL and BT. The only way we eventually got bb was to go with them, they managed to get the line up and running within a week which between AOl and them they couldn't manage.

Arrghh makes me all hot and bothered remembering it all.

Sympathies

"basically every day for three weeks they told me a different story."
Your lucky NDTH try over 3 months of that.

Bosch are you still having problems with Tiscali? They too were involved in our phone/broadband debacle and I have a phone number somewhere for their customer services in this country if that would help. They aren't much more use but at least they can understand what you are saying and vice vera. Their call centres in India are worse than useless and you are wasting your time and money speaking to them (or rather being put on hold/ transferred by them!)
