that when a bloke is making a huge effort to chat you up, to tell you how much he loves his ex GF is really not a good idea

to be fair he did say that he loves her but isnt in love with her
It was the drunken rambling about how he would do anything for her that had me a little
This is a man that has been flirting with me for weeks (at work) and had spent all night at a works do outrageously trying it on
Ah well

LOL he probably thinks it makes him seem caring rather than a loser

roundcornvirgin · 07/12/2008 19:25

numpty!

hollyivypoppy34 · 08/12/2008 15:37

quality..what a prince among men

expatinscotland · 08/12/2008 15:41

L-O-S-E-R

avoid like the plague.

if he asks why, tell him the truth.

he'll probably accuse you of being a cow and not understanding.

all the more reason not to touch him with a ten-foot barge pole.

VinegarSantaGropedMyTits · 08/12/2008 15:42

I would be too

Sounds like he still holds a torch for her

katiepotatie · 08/12/2008 15:47

I know a guy who does this regulary, I keep telling him he needs to stop it, as he scares women off all the time. (you're not in Edinburgh by any chance)

expatinscotland · 08/12/2008 15:48

yeah, when i was single, this was one of the things that would COMPLETELY put me off.

sure, we all have baggage, but geez, have the decency to hide it in polite company.

MorrisZapp · 08/12/2008 16:01

YANBU

Biggest 'chat up' turn off for me is when a bloke approaches you and your friend/s and says 'ladies...' etc, and it becomes clear that he's trying to shag one of you but he's not fussy which one.

Are men stupid as well as sleazy? Rule one is make the object of your desires feel that she has something that the other girls don't. Not that she is the only one out a bunch of equals with low enough standards to get off with you.

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 08/12/2008 16:12

sounds like he's not really over her.

Drink loosens the tongue. He probably still has feelings / regrets.

hollyivypoppy34 · 08/12/2008 16:14

am nearly in tears -sodding british gas..so much for call out service - 24 hours .. bollocks and then get told off for being cross as I'm not delighted after ten odd years of paying for their useless service the oen time I do want/need them -they are no better than a plumber.

hollyivypoppy34 · 08/12/2008 16:15

whoops wrong thread

JacksFirstChristmasMama · 08/12/2008 16:21

Have you seen the "I hate British Gas and they smell of poo" thread in Classics? I think you need to.

JacksFirstChristmasMama · 08/12/2008 16:22

And the man who catted up the OP and then told her he loves his gf sounds like a fuckwit arse loser. IMHO>

FattipuffsandThinnifers · 08/12/2008 16:50

What a saddo. YANBU.

Lol at Morriszapp.

BouncingTinsel · 08/12/2008 16:55

What a prat!

Did you tell him that having ditched one prat you weren't looking to take another one on

MorrisZapp · 08/12/2008 17:08

BT:

Or, as Kathleen Turner would have put it: 'I have one asshole in my pants already. I don't need another one'.

BouncingTinsel · 08/12/2008 17:41

Good one MZ!
