for no real reason, I just don't want to. It's a Christmas social for a group I used to belong to. I stopped going before the summer hols and I have only seen one woman from the group since then. It's just up the road, I have a babysitter, I have absolutely no polite excuse. AIBU to turn down the invitation?

Say you're ill, have a bath and go to bed early. Then you won't feel like shit tomorrow. Or use the babysitter and go to the movies all by yourself. Bliss

It's not tonight btw, it's two weeks away. I just got an email about it.

Nope YANBU. If you don't want to go , don't go. It sounds like you aren't bothered about keeping in touch with the group anyway. Curl up by the fire with a nice of bottle of red instead.

Not much point going out when you dont want to, although i have to admit that my best nights out are when i have to drag myself out of the house
