I didn't shower this morning either. My house is so cold!

are you dirty?

there are some days when I don't shower at all

I am not dirty and I don't smell

sometimes the kids go a full week !

Spidermama · 25/11/2008 22:55

I know the feeling. I'm dreading going for a shower but will do it tonight because it'll be colder in the morning. Brrrr!

I only shower every two or three days at the moment. I can always splash my oiks and bits if I'm feeling overly grungy but I think daily showering is overrated.

moondog · 25/11/2008 22:56

OOh, disagree.
Nowt like a shower to make you feel really fresh and good.
My 4 year old refuses to come downstairs unless he has had one.

Tortington · 25/11/2008 22:57

i like an evening shower but not before bed - it wakes you up.

i find it difficult to function in the morning.

atowncalledalice · 25/11/2008 22:59

I think I'm going to go to bed unwashed. I don't think I smell...

oh dear....
however, 1 day is not really gonna make you yukkie, is it....
cold house is not good is it...feel your pain!
however after day one you have to do something...even if it is stripwash...dressing partly/covering up partly, i.e. whatever you are not washing, lol...
but then, tis not the same, is it....shower makes you feel clean and good..so, tis about priorities!
Also, would a bath be an option at all...warm you up good!

atowncalledalice · 25/11/2008 23:00

Oh, and DS2 is the same as yours, moondog - I reckon he'd stay in the shower all morning if I let him!

pregster · 25/11/2008 23:00

Oooh no I love a long hot shower before bed, warms me up! Switch the electric blanket on and hey presto - WARMTH!!!!

atowncalledalice · 25/11/2008 23:01

I've got the morning off tomorrow, FairLady, so I might treat myself to a long bath after DS2 is at school

Can you have a bath instead? Warms you up so much better than a shower.

juicyjolly · 25/11/2008 23:02

When I used to live in my flat in London, my bedroom had a shower in it. It was fantastic, really refreshing and wakey wakey!

When I moved to the house I am in now, it is cold and damp and it costs a bomb to heat my water up...so now I bath once a week and dont even look forward to it.

moondog · 25/11/2008 23:02

Alice, I have always spent long periods alone with my children as as dh always abroad and quickly learnt that a shower keeps them entertained for hours. Took them in with me the moment they could sit up.

Bumperlicious · 25/11/2008 23:03

I'm with spider on this one. Cold weather doesn't make me want to shower...

FairLadyRantALot · 25/11/2008 23:06

shower only warms you up if water is very hot and room is....so, problem at times where water does not warm in shower properly when heating on but heating also not so effective...and in our case if ever we can afford to do it it's gonna be even more insulation, better boiler and better heating system...but we have to do with wat we have at this time...and op possibly in a similar situation?

FairLadyRantALot · 25/11/2008 23:08

I think it is worth to remember that te whole bathing/showering daily is a moddern thing....and whilst agreeing with that doing either in the right environment is relaxing/aaking/refreshing/great/etc....it is possibly not really always necessary from a hygiene point of view, iykwim

moondog · 25/11/2008 23:08

No
I don't wash clothes very often.
No need. And it wears them out.

FairLadyRantALot · 25/11/2008 23:12

moondog...see I thought I was all clever, took kids in with me...shower or bath....screaming hell with all of them....al of them only grew out of this 3 years and ++++ mostly ====....
weird really, because I always loved water/swimming,and I could dive before I could swim..but dh never took to swimming...hmm

whethergirl · 25/11/2008 23:19

Sorry, really have to disagree here with you smellies. Daily showers are a must for me. I always shower every morning (you sweat loads in the night - I'm sure it was half a cup or some gross amount) and if I excercise in the evening then another shower after that. Mind you, I'm a bit OCD.

VictoriaMeldrew · 25/11/2008 23:53

Would agree that a daily shower not always necessary. Definitely in summer or after exercise/doing something a bit nervy (cue more sweating)/a sweaty night. But not every day. However, if sex was on the cards, and I don't mean just a half-asleep quickie but, erm, a more full-on, "exploratory" session, I'd much rather be - nay, insist on being - fresh.

Spidermama · 26/11/2008 00:06

Oh so do I Victoria despite dh's protestations that he likes me unshowered. Dirty dog that he is.
