To be really really angry with in-laws

Dd1 was 18 on wednesday.FIL has just been round and threw a card at dd1,no happy birthday or anything.There was no sign of MIL,she must have stayed at home.FIL stayed less than 5 mins,he didn't even ask if she had had a nice birthday.
AIBU to of hoped they would have made abit of a fuss of Dd1.

Why are some many grandparents so lazy and grumpy about their grandchildren? Is it a Baby Boomer thing?

To make it even worse their other GD(DH sisters Dd)was 17 afew weeks ago.In laws they paid for her to have a party for her and her friends.

YANBU. Poor dd. They sound like mean and nasty people.

YANBU, poor dd1! Have they always been like this with her?
My ILs don't live anywhere near us but they make the effort to visit (we take it in turns), and dd loves staying with them.

They are mean and nasty.Even when dd1 got A's and B's in her GCSE's they didn't say anything.She is also doing really well at college and has 2 interviews for uni places,but they never say anything.But the other DG got a job at macdonals after dropping out of college and thats great.They never have a nice word to say about Dd1.

I should add that Dd1 had to work really hard at school and college, to get where she is.Its not something she finds easy but something she really wants.I just wish in laws could be has proud has i am.

Well it's their loss. She's at the age when she can decide who she wishes to spend time with. And I'm guessing it own't be them
