To want to do the fireworks tonight?

We bought fireworks a couple of weeks ago.

Due to us all not being here all at the same time and me not wanting to light them etc, it taken til tonight to do them.

DP wants to wait til the weekend. It's embarressing wanting to do them tonight seeing as its nearly a weeksince firework night.

DP says do them new years but to be honest I hate NewYears celebrations, i'm working all day NYE and I will be in bed early, so will the kids as they get tired early.

AIBU to want to get them done and out of the way.

I have 2 big boxes

If any are noisy ones and there are likely to be nervous pets in earshot who won't be doped to the eyeballs tonight, then it would be rather unreasonable.

If they are quiet or you live out in the countryside go ahead

Littlefish · 11/11/2008 19:11

I would wait until the weekend at least, but preferably New Year's Eve. You could do them at about 6.00pm if you're going to bed early.

Lots of people put pets (and children!) away when they know there are going to be fireworks. I think that nearly a week after bonfire night would be a bit unreasonable.

shinyshoes · 11/11/2008 19:12

They are regular fireworks, a couple of boxes of mixed ones, not quiet as far as I know.

you dont live near me do you some ass set fireworks off about 2 this morning... lol

Mum2OliverJames · 12/11/2008 10:49

As long as you dont live near me (Stamford?)

shitehawk · 12/11/2008 10:54

Did you let them off?

Given that there are still fireworks going off every night around here, and have been for the last six weeks, it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to me whether someone let fireworks off on a weeknight - as long as it was at a reasonable time and didn't go on for hours.

My dd has woken every evening for over a week saying "bang" and crying. It has been a nightmare.

I would therefore rather you waited till the weekend when other people will probably be joining in AGAIN. But actually they were doing it again last night so who knows when it will stop.

Dottoressa · 12/11/2008 11:01

We were all ill last week, so will be using our quiet fireworks at 6pm on Saturday!

Lovesdogsandcats · 12/11/2008 11:08

And you have to ask??
yes you are being un-fucking-reasonable.

"not quiet as far as I know"

How selfish of you, I hope you do not have anyone with dogs or cats living near you!!

ohIdoliketobebesidethe · 12/11/2008 11:35

That's just typical of lovesdogsandcats. Forever worrying about dogs and cats .

Lovesdogsandcats · 12/11/2008 14:55

Yes, I must say I do rather have a fondness for dogs and cats .
