We took dd's to burger king for lunch today, we got them a chicken bite kids meal each. I have a thing about meat being cooked properly so i always check and this time i am so glad as the chicken was very pink.
OH took them back and they replaced them they didnt bother to check the new ones they just said they should be ok. They were worse, i called over a member of staff and the manager then came rushing over. I told her i didnt want them same again so i would have the chicken strips.

The chicken strips arrived and as i was breaking them into small peices dd2 (16 months) grabbed a bit and ate it i then realised the chicken was FROZEN in the middle.
I was so fucking angry by this point i litrally chucked them at the manager. She gave me the money back but i said that wasn't good enough and she wrote in a book what happend and took our details.

She then told me that the chicken strips are cooked a different way to the bites and didnt understand how it happened.

We left and she phoned to say that someone was coming to fix the machines and she had stopped selling them. I said i dont care i am going to ring enviromental helth on monday which made her panic and she said no you cannot do that unless your dd gets i'll.

I then rang the area manager who offered me a free meal which i declined.

So AIBU to expect the food to be cooked properly and that i should contact environmental health if i wish to do so?

Yikes! Frozen chicken, or undercooked.. 3 times? I would complain TBH. To EH. Back in the day I worked at KFC and the managers son always smoked in the kitchen area when we were cleaning after it closed. Put me off for life.

BBeingpatient · 08/11/2008 16:35

no YANBU, i think In fastfood laces environmental standard are possibly higher/harder to achieve, and dont blame you for being annoyed, this is one of the reason i stopped goin to KFC (that and my expanding butt )

BBeingpatient · 08/11/2008 16:36

it would help if i cld type

honeybehappy · 08/11/2008 16:36

i can believe the Area manager thought i would go there again.

honeybehappy · 08/11/2008 16:44

my dd asked to go there and it's not really any of your business Ronaldinhio

OP posts:
Ronaldinhio · 08/11/2008 16:47

ahh..I think you'll find that it is my business

I think you were being unreasonable to be in burgerking, mho expressed eloquently here ta

repeat burgerking boak

they were doing you a favour with the frozen food option

honeybehappy · 08/11/2008 16:51

doing me a favour? My dd ate it so i can't see how.

I would go to the environmental health.
They sound like they have shocking standards, once is an accident, but 3 times! People quite often just start eating and don't check so you had a lucky escape but I bet there are others who have gotten ill.
3 times is too many times to be a fluke.

StealthPolarBANG · 08/11/2008 16:54

Definitely report to environmental health, they need shutting down IMO

MadCreamLady · 08/11/2008 16:54

"you can't do that unless your DD gets ill" fecking good job she didnt say that to my face, if i were you that is - she would have been picking bits of chicken out of her eyeballs i can tell you.

You absolutely CAN phone the environmental health and you should.

FWIW, i really dont think your DS will get sick, as it really is a numbers game with bacteria so it would have had to festered there half cooked for a bit and he would have had to eaten most of it. NOT the point though - the food wasn't cooked properly.

Nup, i would go to the EH and the press. I had a burger in burger king once that was red in the middle, i was pregnant, i went ballistic, but it was awkward because i had DD1 with me and she didnt know i was pregnant.

BBeingpatient · 08/11/2008 16:54

ronaldinho, i take your comment in the spirit it was meant however youve come accross a bit judgey pants! and to say frozen food wasa fovour is bit insensitive as op is obv worried about her DD becoming ill.

honeybehappy · 08/11/2008 16:55

I'm going to ring them on monday and i'm also going to ring burgerkings head office.

blimey, do you two know each other, you ARE joking aren;t you? BK is a bit boaktastic, but these things are OK once in a while, for a treat, well so long as they are cooked ;)

madcream that is blardy awful, we had similar experience in the harvester, i said i wasnt paying and they said you have to pay for your drinks, i ever so eloquently told them to shove there salad cart up there ass!!

MadCreamLady · 08/11/2008 16:57

To be fair, i do think that Ronaldihio was joking though.

Ivvvvyygootscaaared444 · 08/11/2008 16:57

The reason the chicken was still frozen in the middle was due to the fact the staff had not defrosted the chicken - this is very dangerous, you must defrost chicken before you cook it and nothing to do with the machines....no wonder she didn't want you to contact EH.

I would contact EH and let them know exactly what happened in the store and the state of the supposed cooked food. No need to do it in a threatening manner as EH can go and check the premises and that they are cooking properly, best this than have a child that does fall ill.

Avoid teenager cooking palaces such as Mcd's, bKing and KFC - they are all cheap labour and no training with life of love and sex on the brain not the job at hand

Ronaldinhio · 08/11/2008 16:58

anything else sweetheart?

any other humble opinions?

MadCreamLady · 08/11/2008 16:58

honeybehappy · 08/11/2008 16:58

no we do not, i'm not really in the mood to be judged. It was a treat for dd1 because she has been really good and she asked to go there.

OP posts:
Ronaldinhio · 08/11/2008 16:59

honeybehappy · 08/11/2008 17:00
