Not dd this time though!

Took dd in this morn, have 3 mindees with me, baby, nursery age and reception.
I take dd first, then reception and nursery child goes in afternoon.
Stood inside school but outside DD's classroom as they let us in early due to weather..need to tell dd's teacher about something urgently, so make sure all 3 mindees are stood outside classroom door holding onto pushchair..is step inside (am still near door but have my back to mindees)say what i need to say and come out...mindee (reception) is walking away down corridoor with a child i dont know..i shout her back and ask her where she is going and that she KNOWS she doesnt go off with anyone!...HEAD TEACHER who was stood in hallway when we came in (and heard me tell children to hold buggy and stay there for one second!) in hall way says "oh i told X to take her down to her classroom"!!!???????...at WHAT farking point was she A- going to tell me WHERE my mindee had gone? and B-Realise that children left in YOUR care are YOUR responsability..just becasue she cant be botherd ensuring adequate staff levels when children are sahoved outside, that doesnt mean i would let my mindees wander through school, not knowing if they actually GOT to class or not(biggish school).!!FFS
She KNOWS im a childminder, yet she seems to excel herself at being totally unconcerned and aware of her/my responsability!
If i tell a mindee to hold onto buggy and stay there, i dont expect a head to basically say oh ignore her and do this!!!

Was the reception child going to be late? I agree she shouldn't have done this but I wonder if she was trying to make a point that the mindee should be on her way to class? OR were they being a bit noisy?

PinkChick · 06/11/2008 09:53

No, theyd let us in early because of the rain, it was 8.45, they dont have to be in till 9!...am rapidly questioning her ability and proffesionalism as a head

Did she say why at all? Seems a bit odd I must admit. Were they making a noise?

Wizzska · 06/11/2008 11:42

YANBU. You can't just take kids away from their minders like that, you could have been frantic looking for her.

more · 06/11/2008 12:47

Is she trying to give you grey hairs or something?

PinkChick · 06/11/2008 14:08

She didnt even tell me were mindee was going until i told mindee 'off' for going of as id asked her to stay with other mindees and buggy..she just said she thought x could take her to mrs xyz (mindees teacher-on the total opposite side of the school!)..the other child was only 5!
i said that i would be taking her myself as her mum pays me to look after her and make sure she gets to class and i cant do that if i just leave her to make her own way there with another child!..that i couldnt 'honestly' tell mum id got her safely to school when i didnt know!..she looked at me as if i had PFB syndrome!...is she really THAT stupid/ignorant/ill educated to think taking a child without their carer knowing is acceptable!..is she not HEAD TEACHER FGS!

PinkChick · 06/11/2008 14:09

i would have been frantic looking for her had i turned round 10 seconds later as there were off up the corridor! and she made NO attempt to tell me!..why couldnt she have just tapped me on should and said "oh pink, ive asked x to take y to class, would that be ok?"

OP posts:
PinkChick · 06/11/2008 14:10

AND as it wasnt official school hours(as they let us in early) mrs xyz may not have even been in her classroom!!!..leaving mindee on her own!

MingMingtheWonderPet · 06/11/2008 14:16

YA definitely NBU

You were in charge of the child and the HT should not have taken over. Def not the child's fault, if her HT told her to do something then I am not surprised that she did as she was told.

HT should not have got involved atall, you were responsible for the child.

PinkChick · 06/11/2008 14:23

worth mentioning to mum or not??..mum prob wouldnt question it with school..horses for courses!

Im sorry but I dont really get why you are so upset, she probably thought she was being helpful. She only asked another child to take her to her class, maybe she should have told you but I dont see it as a big deal really.

PinkChick · 06/11/2008 16:51

because im her cm and i was in a different part of the school than that which mindee goes too, it wasnt time for mindee to go in and she (the head) didnt tell me that she had asked another child to take her there??..why would she need to ask someone lelse to take her knowing what i do and that i was taking her after dropping dd off?..we were 15 minutes earlier than normal and i had asked both older mindees to stand with buggy right in front of head
