To not give a stuff who stays and who goes?

Mumsnet is not a private members club, it's a public forum. I'm sad if people feel they have to go because of stalkers or other personally-directed unpleasantness, because that is unpleasant and not what forums are meant to be about.

But if people want to leave because things are not the same as they used to be when there were only a dozen people, and you could leave your door open all day, and it was all fields round here .... well, off you go then!

Change happens, deal with it.

YANBU - Get a grip people!

AbbaFan · 30/10/2008 12:50

I not losing any sleep over it

However I do miss a couple of posters that have left.

clam · 30/10/2008 12:51

Did I miss something?

Who's left?

mrsmaidamess · 30/10/2008 12:52

I miss no one. Too much naval gazing and wistfully gushing about 'the past' goes on here.

traceybath · 30/10/2008 12:52

YANBU - its the circle of life (rousing chorus from lion king commences)

CatIsSleepy · 30/10/2008 12:52

ah they'll all be back anyway

am getting a little weary of the constant gnashing of teeth and rending of garments because so-and-so has gone...
(although am sure so-and-so was perfectly lovely and witty and all that etc )

CoteDAzur · 30/10/2008 12:52

I agree.

I guess it depends on whether you view your MN friends as "real" or not.

DippyDora · 30/10/2008 12:56

Everyone who's everyone has left apparently clam

MMJ - if they are 'friendships built over years' then you will be in contact off the boards so need to miss them.

So again YANBU - Pull yourselves together folks

FAQ · 30/10/2008 13:09

"if they are 'friendships built over years' then you will be in contact off the boards so need to miss them."

But surely it's no different to a RL friend that lives close and you see each other/speak to each other regularly they move away, so you don't see each so often instead keeping touch by email/letter. Doesn't mean the friendship ends, but the general banter that perhaps happened before probably won't be there anymore.

Well, I've been here nearly 2 years, and yes there are people I would (and do) miss.

It's the constant navel-gazing "things aren't what they used to be" wailing that bugs me. It's been happening since I've been here - people leave, everyone wails and gnashes their teeth about how it's all going downhill, then it settles again till the next time.

OP posts:
lulalullabye · 30/10/2008 13:12

Then i feel it's up to us 'newbies' to make it nice and fun hey.

DippyDora · 30/10/2008 13:18

You have people moaning MN isnt what it used to be and how 'sad' it is now but they are not doing anything to make MN a great place by wailing and going ON and ON and ON and ON.

They're must be old timers who are bored by it all now as well.

Seriously get over it and move on

DippyDora · 30/10/2008 13:18

There

CatIsSleepy · 30/10/2008 13:19

time for a stiff upper lip, people
things were much worse in the Blitz, you know

VinegArghhhWasStabbedInTheTits · 30/10/2008 13:23

No, YANBU to give a stuff who stays and who goes, i dont have a problem with you feeling that way, but thats just you innit?

Not everyone feels like that, there are folks who have been here for years who are sad to see people leave, i dont have a probelm with that either

Pointless thread really, innit.

AMumInScotland · 30/10/2008 13:25

All the threads about it are a real downer - they make it sound like the whole place is about to implode. Er, no, it's not - even if lots of people leave it will still be here and maybe have a slightly changed "feel" to it, but it's not going to vanish just because 1% of the posters have decided they don't like it any more.

OP posts:
VinegArghhhWasStabbedInTheTits · 30/10/2008 13:28

Just leave them to it then, hide the 'woe is me' threads and get on with it

the op is right
I hate all these oh so and so has gone. mn won't be the same, whiney threads.
there are still lots of good people on here

LadyOfRoffle · 30/10/2008 13:35

O, has someone left?

ewwwmy2shoesarefullofblood · 30/10/2008 13:38

no one of importance
we are still here

TskullsScreaming · 30/10/2008 13:39

Agree, agree, AGREE with OP!

I've been around a good few years and all this wailing about the good old days is beyond me. When was that then? Mumsnet just is. Take it or leave it.

Everyone always comes back anyway. It's largely attention seeking to stomp off imo.
