To not give a stuff who stays and who goes?

Mumsnet is not a private members club, it's a public forum. I'm sad if people feel they have to go because of stalkers or other personally-directed unpleasantness, because that is unpleasant and not what forums are meant to be about.

But if people want to leave because things are not the same as they used to be when there were only a dozen people, and you could leave your door open all day, and it was all fields round here .... well, off you go then!

Change happens, deal with it.

you are as good as your last post.no one should receive favourable treatment or plaudits for posting

names on screens, making points (albeit funny/supportive/infuriating/etc) that is all it is really.if it intrudes and begins to be more maybe or have too much significance maybe give it a wee rest

puts things in to perspective

mm22bys · 04/11/2008 10:38

I don't care who stays or who goes. It's pretty scary though if people are being stalked because of posting on here.

About everyone who has "gone", where have the "gone" to?

ScottishMummy · 04/11/2008 10:42

attend to RL?away from the words on da screen?returned to vocal communication with real folk, not just tapa a tapa on pc

Panfriedpumpkin · 04/11/2008 10:44

People develop attachments to other people. I've heard said it's a human trait. We are social animals.

yes, the breast-beating is a bit naff, but I do understand the underlying sense of loss. But also, newbies come along and that is refreshing.

ScottishMummy · 04/11/2008 10:48

i think the wailing and hand wringing has all got a bit introspective and too maudlin

it is meant to be fun too irrespective of time served or alleged noteriety.

easing off on squawking toll or newbie at folk might also help the ambience. not just bellyaching about the alleged good ole days MN of yore

pagwatch · 04/11/2008 11:05

I love this thread.
People complaining at length about people complaining about others leaving because they were complaining that it wasn't as good here as it used to be.
Particularly love some later posters tutting about 'naval gazing' on a thread about complaining about other people complaing...etcetcetc.

Perfect mumsnet

zippitippitoes · 04/11/2008 11:07

lol i havent really read the thread

it looked too boring

filz · 04/11/2008 11:08

I was quite shocked actually. His fee must be quite small. I wonder if he would do some entertaining at a childrens party for his fee?

ggglimpopo · 04/11/2008 12:22

I am amazed that people feel so strongly about people that:

They have never met

They are never likely to meet

They can ignore if they want to

Have no bearing on their lives/decisions/choices and thus mean nothing in the greater scheme of things

May be only one of several uber-personnae of a Hairy Handed Bavarian called Hildegarde

I mean, why? Why rant and get riled over completely anonymous, faceless cyber-strangers? Why? And why be nasty? Why?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 04/11/2008 13:48

I agree with what all the MN oldies said and also what the best newbies said LL, Pan, etc

I think that sums it up.

Panfriedpumpkin · 04/11/2008 13:51

cheek.

Mhamai · 04/11/2008 13:58

Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
If I stay it wll be double
So come on and let me know
Should I stay or shuold I go?

De neh neh neh neh neh neh neh!

Well I'm not going anywhere,I left my phone in a taxi, took 120 euro from atm today but walked away without it because my mind was on my lost phone.

Have come home bewildered and kickin myself and if I didn't have this place to rant, laugh, moan. I'd crack up.

So there.

Mhamai · 04/11/2008 14:00

And I don't care that you don't care that I don't care.

filz · 04/11/2008 14:19

Mhamai · 05/11/2008 21:32

Thanks filz and Chipmonkey, today is a new day an all. I never made that sort of cock up before and hopefully never will again, an expensive mistake!

chipmonkey · 07/11/2008 00:02

Well, if it's any comfort, I make that kind of cock-up daily, so God knows how much money I've lost over the years!
