to hate these magazines?

went to a friend's today and she had a load of magazines that she was chucking out and asked if I wanted them.

I took a few and read them this afternoon.

I never really read these sorts of mags before and have been in shock all day.

They were: Heat, Gracia and Closer

now a don't mind a bit of mindless celeb gossip but these were sick.

Literally every other page was about who is too fat, too thin and about dieting tips.

by the end of it I couldn't help but think about my weight for about an hour...if I read these every week I think it would screw me up.

and what made me really sad is the friend that gave them to me is anorexic.

I used to buy these when my 1st 2 were tiny - ok for reading in the middle of the night to keep me awake during feeds. They seem to have become even trashier in the last couple of years though. Can't read them anymore (and I am the sort of person who loves magazines). All articles on the same handful of people. Haven't watched BB for a few years so had no idea who those 'celebs' were. Also hate all of these fashion pages - all featuring 'disposable' fashion - will not be trendy in a couple of months. I have no interest in buying clothes that I can't hold on to for longer than a few months.

Also a lot of focus on how quickly/slowly people lose pregnancy weight. This seems to be much more of an issue in the media in the last few years (or maybe I notice it more since having children).

Also, didn't heat give away some 'joke' stickers a while back featuring 'celebs'. One said something derogatory about Jordans son Harvey on it (commented on his weight I think and his weight is related to his disability).

you are right Ilovemyghds - I read about that they had badges with Harvey's face and said... I want to eat you ... on them

that is just sick imo as he prada villi syndrome
