To use my DD tooth whitening?

DD is 7 years old and I have paid to get her some cosmetic treatment on her front two teeth. She has a genetic enamel condition that has caused mottling and two brown marks. She is very self conscious about this and other kids have started to ask her about it. She started to say she hated her teeth and her smile and it was heartbreaking. When I was a teenager I had awful acne and I would have given anything for my parents to have money to pay for a dermatologist, I have horrible scarred skin and it has affected my confidence for my entire life so I wanted to be able to avoid this for DD and save up and pay for her to get private dental treatment.

She was given FOUR bloody syringes of whitening before she gets some icon treatment done. This is for two front teeth, it's way too much and I'm a bit annoyed that we had to pay so much for this. We've used half a syringe and that's it. So I'm thinking of buying some teeth guards that you can mould off amazon and using the rest of the whitening on my own teeth.

Is this an ok idea? I drink a lot of tea, coffee and red wine...I'll have to stop won't I until I stop the whitening? Does anyone have an advice or tips?

It’ll be fine. I didn’t stop anything when I whitened mine. You only leave it on a few minutes. Just don’t eat or drink while it’s on.

Although why aren’t you whitening her whole set of teeth? Otherwise she’ll end up with just two glowing teeth that are different colours to the rest

Because it's just come through on her adult teeth and and wasn't present on her milk teeth. She has the front top two in and the bottom 4 adult teeth. I'm waiting to see how her teeth go but obviously will pay for more work if she needs it/feels self conscious.

The dentist said that it will probably take another 5 years for her adult teeth to grow in fully so expecting to have to get more work done. I'm also a bit reluctant to whiten her teeth too quickly as I dont want to ruin her gums. If it's possible I'd rather wait and get the full set done later. It's a bit of wait and se what happens but 100% willing to pay to have her feel better.

I'm not sure how long whitening solution last though and if I can keep it?

Has the half sorted her teeth? Personally I would put the excess aside for my DD just in case.

How long do you think it will last though?

Your dentist prescribed whitening gel for a 7 year old? I'm not sure that's legal.

And no, you shouldn't use anything that was prescribed for another person. Have you had a dental check up recently, are you definitely dentally fit?

It’s illegal to prescribe tooth whitening in under 18’s in the UK.

Yes, it's allowed if there is a genuine reason and this is why she is only getting 2 teeth done rather than the whole set.

Tooth whitening is hardly the same as prescription drugs though, calm down.

Why did you ask then?
