Feeling really low in marriage

I would start by saying i love my dh dearly, we have a young child together and i have a teen from a previous relationship. We have been together nearly 10 years and he provides for us all and is generally a good dh/father - he can be lazy and much of the housework, kids and life admin falls on me but he provides in other ways and our family unit means more to me than anything.

However i really feel like the spark has truly gone from our marriage. We are more like housemates who sit together and watch shit tv on an evening and run a house/family together. The main reason for this is lack of sex. He has always had a lower sex drive than me as well as some erectile issues but just recently it appears to have been taken off the table altogether with no communication other than “i’m just not in the mood lately”. He can be tactile and loving but it’s not the same as an intimate relationship and i really miss it. I would initiate more but im so sick of feeling rejected and like hes only doing it out of obligation.

We so rarely get time alone since we had our youngest as we have no family support and we have definitely fallen into a rut of not making proper time for one another. Even small things like how he used to text or call me at lunch just to see how my day was have fallen by the wayside. I really need some ideas of how to reignite things. I think the sex issue is potentially quite tricky as mismatched sex drives are nobody’s fault but can cause serious issues and resentment. Any ideas so appreciated.

He seems to get his own way regarding the kids, house and now your physical relationship. He is being very self-centred! I don't blame you for feeling rejected and I think this will eat away at you and you deserve to be happy.
Would he be willing to see a GP? My partner had problems after starting medication for diabetes and the GP was very helpful and understanding.
Normal service has resumed!

He has always had a lower sex drive than me. He is also very bad at communicating about it - he becomes avoidant and clearly uncomfortable when it comes to discussing it. We were having sex 1-2 times a month which seemed like a fair compromise but even that has waned now. I can’t change him i suppose but i would like to be able to have a frank discussion about how this is making me feel.

Sounds like my marriage, but the other way round. Have you talked to him about it? Tried to find a common ground?

I find it very hard to talk to him about it. I would say he is quite happy to coast along and can’t really be bothered with arguments or discussions, especially those relating to sex.

Im sorry to hear that. Its not an easy subject to bring up. Maybe he has self esteem issues

You dont need to argue, just ask why he is cold towards you.

I couldn’t even say he’s cold. It’s just stagnant for want of a better word. We get along fine but there is no passion. We are in a huge rut and the more time that passes without sex the more of a big deal it feels like to me. I doubt he even cares.

I understand that, been there myself. You need to ask him, he might not know how you feel

Definitely talk to him.
