Feel insecure in new supervisory role

I've been in the role a couple of months, I took it for extra pay and responsibilities, as I've never held any sort of supervisor role before.
I enjoy it but feel a little inferior managing some of the staff, especially the more mature ones who've been doing the job since before I was even born.

Everybody is very experienced and competent, I have experience and nobody has been rude to me, but I feel a bit daft being responsible for them when they're much more experienced than me.

I'm mid 30s, unfortunately I'm finding that moving into more senior/supervisory roles is the only way to earn more money often, I'm introverted but hope to ga8n more confidence. Has anyone else had this?

Every manager was a new manager once

This feeling is v common & I’ve had it myself

Read some books/articles on managing (or get training through your workplace) - in time your confidence will grow

I'm trying my best to be approachable and not step on their toes, I always think of the worst people who've supervised me and I think they let the extra responsibility go to their heads.

You need to try to remember that just because you are their supervisor it doesn’t mean you need to know their job as well as they do. They already have experience doing it and you are not there for competition. The role of the supervisor is to oversee that everyone is doing what they need to do, people are well supported and people issues are handled appropriately. There is no need for you to compete with their experience or compare how long each of you has been doing the job.

Have a Google of imposter syndrome, it's really common especially for women to second guess themselves in this way

Remember you don't have to be an expert in their roles to manage or oversee the work and you were given the job for a reason
